I am doing really well this month with no purchases so far this month. I have got 4 UU:s to report: ESPA 24 hour moisturising complex, didn't think this moisturiser was anything special. I have used one lip gloss , L'oreal slam shine sorbet, I thought this one was a great colour but wont be buying anymore lipglosses until I have used up what I already got. I have also thrown away 2 lipglosses from Jemma Kidd (the freebie ones they did last year), I didn't like the feeling of using them so have decided to bin them.

I have just re-started a new saving pot so now have got £2 in my new pot. In my old one I had £70 to pay for a beauty treatment.

Good luck to everyone this month.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j

Also not washing hair until tonight so went to refresh hair this morning with my boots dry shampoo but it was refusing to schooosh. Still some liquid in the can but it is not coorperating. Will let it sit for a bit then try again. If its still not spraying I will have to bin in but I hate doing that knowing it is not finished.

Well you could take it back to store and explain in the nicest possible way, if you can be bothered (I would....I'm such a saddo!)

I agree with Bronnie (not about her being a saddo ;) ) I would also return it but then I am a saddo too! What's the point in spending money you can't use?
Oh and DH bought some peanut brittle the other night. It worked out at £200 per 100g because he's shattered his tooth on it. GRRRR!

3 UUs up for me this week:-

Bottle of TBS Love Etc shower gel WIBA? Yes, love this fragance. Though when I'll buy I don't know as I know Santa has got me lots of shower gels.

A tub of Aloe Vera moisturiser WIBA? This question is irrelevant I suppose cos I bought this in Tenerife and can't buy it elsewhere. Wouldn't want to either. It was useless. Had to wear vitamin E oil underneath it to get any result.

Bottle of No 7 eye make up remover WIBA? No, it's too oily. Am using a travel size of the Simple one at the moment which I'm loving.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

  • :hello:morning all,

a uu this morning - Paul Smith xpanding thickening cream - I am soooo glad this is finished as it does absolutely nothing, well ok, it smells nice but as for volumising- nada, utterly useless, i will not be buying again.

I have to say, much as I love this challenge, sometimes I find the bad hair days I'm having while trying to uu stuff a bit hard going.

    enjoy your day ladies, xx
  • A UU yesterday: Ted Baker Body Wear Souffle. WIBA? No, I liked it to begin with and then got fed up with it and put it aside. As I've recently been using a Ted Baker body wash, I decided to use this body lotion in order to layer the scent, but there are other lotions/butters that I prefer.

A UU today: Avon Advance Techniques 2-in-1 Healthy Shine Shampoo and Conditioner. WIBA? Yes, this is great to use on your hair after swimming as it moisturises well. I also use it when I'm pushed for time and need to have as quick a shower as possible!

Also a UU of Radox Energy Boost Shower Gel which I have been using as hand wash in the kitchen and in the bathroom. The bathroom one has run out today and the one in the kitchen should run out later this week. Of the shower gels I have remaining, I don't want to use any of them as hand wash and so I'll have a look through my bubble bath stash and select something to use from there.

I also have an "in" to report: BS Sweet Lemon Body Butter (50 ml) which I got for free with the Telegraph voucher :D.

I have UU my dove cream deodorant. WIBA?: No. I prefer a stick. I had awful struggles with this which ended up in me getting it all over my uniform every night. Our scrub tops are quite fitted and go over the head so the pocket would always wipe off the deodorant.
I am onto the aloe vera stick one now. Like it so far and it doesn't seem too pricey yet!

Oh and I also scraped out the last of 2 dove deodorants into a little jar and chucked the deodorant containers. WIBA- no as they were my OHs but he has developed a sensitivity to them so I will just use up the last bits of them when I need a little extra protection and stick to my crystal deodorant.
I also threw out a couple of containers of prickly heat powder as they were tucked away at the back of the cupboard and over 5 years out of date- needless to say I will not be repurchasing;)

I thought I'd post my hair wash hints that I got from Adam Hart-Davis' Just Another Day: The Science of Our Everyday Lives. It's of particular value to those of us with long-ish hair
You carefully brush your hair and comb any tangles out before stepping in the shower or wetting your hair. You then wash it long, working from the top down, no tangling on the head as in the advertisements. I use Lush solid shampoos sometimes and three strokes down builds up plenty of lather. You wash your hair as if it was a piece of cloth, carefully working the lather through it. Don't twist or tangle the hair. Then you'll have to use conditioner to de-tangle it.

I can wash my hair with a teaspoon of liquid shampoo this way - it's really effective.

Doing this, my hair was beautifully soft and glossy, and this without expensive shampoos.
