I'm in Edinburgh and got mail today:D Though it is not too bad where i am at the moment.

One of my friends posted a pic on facebook of her car in the car park and the snow is over the wheel arches and half way up the door:eek: That is about 10 miles from where i am. Was there on monday and thought i may get stuck. Luckily i didn't but i saw a fair few abandoned vehicles.

I wouldn't mind the post NOT being delivered IF we had had significant snow fall - but we haven't
I haven't moaned about it being half an hour late - I did moan that my frnaked mail pouches weren't returned, meaning I was unable
to post my outgoing mail out!

Our Postie is a hero and so is our mobile Post Office!
The road in/out of the village is horrible, only 7/8 cms of snow, but very, very icy. The nearest gritted road is 3 miles away.
Despite this the mobile Post Office was there this morning and the Postie was bang on time with my bluey this morning! :j

Well after our efforts of getting into work all week we have admitted defeat today - another 2 - 3 inches on what we already had, plus both of us going A over T in the snow - not worth the risk! We've both taken leave for today and hope the conditions improve tomorrow.

well here it is at 10.07pm and I am still waiting for Royal Mail to deliver my post !!!!
I live in Coventry and we had a VERY small amount of snow- nothing major or anything which could hold the postman up- but no sign of him
and before anyone says " well, you might not have had any post to deliver"
I work from home and send all my post out in franked mail pouches which should be returned to me the enxt day - so even if there is a day when I have no mail ( VERY VERY rare) then i should still have my postal pouches- so I am now 10 postal pouches down and will be struggling to send out post tomorrow until I get these back!

I cannot believe that Royal Mail have used this as an excuse not to deliver ( well, sadly actually , i CAN believe it!!)

The mail doesn't magicly appear in the sorting office it has to be delivered there.Lorries are getting stuck all over the country, just because you had a small amount doesn't mean its the same everywhere else and you have no idea of what problems the drivers have had.
We've had 12-18" here in the past 2 days and the only ones on the road are 4x4s and HGVs trying to get through.

but my point it- the postal pouches don't go anywhere other than to our local depot- they get unpacked at the sorting office and should be back with me the next day !!

Not talking about the postal service here, but yes the snow is used as an excuse by some people. We had barely 2" and yet half the shops were shut (with notes in the window, so obviously people had got in!) and all the state schools and nurseries were closed, but the private ones were open which to my mind says something. My (outdoor) fitness classes ran as usual, but all the indoor instructors cancelled. And travel isn't really an issue here as noone travels far - its too small a place!
