Yes, and it's hard to explain to people on the south coast that their item wasn't delivered because of the snow. "But we've hardly had any," they say. And I agree...but it's because their item didn't arrive in the local distribution centre, because it wasn't on the perfectly-working lorry that left Newark on time, because it wasn't picked out from the warm, heated warehouse, because one of the pickers decided that there was a little bit too much snow to venture out that day.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Obviously it depends where you live etc, but I do think some people are using it as an excuse.
Here in Northern Ireland the cities and towns have had hardly any snow, and all roads are gritted, yet some people are still saying they cannot come into work.
Which is crazy when people who live miles away in the country on some ungritted roads can, yet you live 30mins walk away and can't get it!! Tut

I dont live that far from Bury, and right now the snow here is nearly two inches deep and climbing, I have no doubt in my mind this is going to affect delivery vehicles, just as it has already with public transport and even private vehicles.

If its an excuse, its a damn good one and as far as I can tell from my window, a perfectly valid one.

I would love to get in the car and drive the 1 mile to the major stores for xmas shopping, but am not going to risk the journey with all this snow on these as yet "still" un-gritted roads. My only credit goes to the Postman, who throughout this difficult period, still manages to deliver the mail.

Well the shop will need a manger to open up. Say that its the store mangers turn he's probably earning a reasonable wage and lives somewhere a bit more rural and that why it he get stuck. It only takes one person to not be able to get to the store for it not to be able to open.

I'm in NI, virtually none here. Yet plenty of complaints in local papers etc from people 'unable' to get to work due to broken down cars.....

well here it is at 10.07pm and I am still waiting for Royal Mail to deliver my post !!!!
I live in Coventry and we had a VERY small amount of snow- nothing major or anything which could hold the postman up- but no sign of him
and before anyone says " well, you might not have had any post to deliver"
I work from home and send all my post out in franked mail pouches which should be returned to me the enxt day - so even if there is a day when I have no mail ( VERY VERY rare) then i should still have my postal pouches- so I am now 10 postal pouches down and will be struggling to send out post tomorrow until I get these back!

I cannot believe that Royal Mail have used this as an excuse not to deliver ( well, sadly actually , i CAN believe it!!)

or perhaps the mail didnt make it to/from the Northampton mail centre

Now, at times I might just think I'm unpopular but I'm expecting Amazon deliveries.
