Its the PROCESSES tab your wanting to look through

If explorer isnt running, use task manager and goto RUN and run the program -
explorer.exe

cheers people, in the PROCESSES tab, al i have running is:

csrss.exe SYSTEM
hotfix.exe (my user name)
taskmgr.exe (my user name)
winlogon.exe SYSTEM

Any suggestions?

update:

Have mananged to run explorer.exe in safe mode, and start to run malwarebites, but the centre 80% of screen has this damn virus thing always 'on top', ive had to drag malwarebites around behind it to find the 'full scan now' button, managed to start it off, but the malware scree nthat opens when its actually scanning, is too small to find an 'edge' of its window to drag into view, any ideas?

the scan screen in mbam is the same size as the non-scanning screen :huh:

sorry difficult to explain, the virus thats on my laptop, looks like a windows security update, and fills the screen except for about 1" all the waqy round the edge, and when i open mwarebites or avira and run them, their progress screen doesnt take up the whole screen, so its 'hidden behind this damn virus message taking up most of my display. Mwarebits has finished a full scan but i cant see the results, or minimise the virus message to make the choice on mwarebits of quarantine, remove, deleted infected files etc

Possibly a silly point but would a change of screen resolution make the page size small enough to use MB?

Just out of curiosity, was this anti-virus program called Anti Virus 2010?

I recommend you look here anyway, it has a tutorial on using MalwareBytes. It also has a nice picture of Anti Virus 2010.

I had it once, took me two hours to delete it. Last time I let my mom download anything.

Have you ticked to 'show processes from all users'?

thanks again everyone, alienRIK i have ticked it now, what should i be looking for? (sorry not overly experienced with this)
