it's a reg file, not an exe!!

Just try it.
A reg file isn't executable, it make changes to the registry, so clicking on it is not the same as running a program
You haven't said what happens when you click malwarebytes!!

If you have windows xp then you need to turn on your computer, as soon as you do that before you see the windows xp logo hold down the control key and keep tapping f11 key.
It should take you to the screen for factory settings and if it is windows vista then you can go ahead and press f8 and then choose repair my computer.
Hit enter which will then prompt you to login in, once you log in it will tell you to choose the options choose the one which says restore factory default...your computer will be restored to factory settings..:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I have not tried it but you may be able to download Ubuntu onto a memory stick, boot into that and download and run Avast for Linux to get rid of it.0

Restoring to factory settings will wipe all your data!!

Did you manage to run FixExe?
If that did not work you could try downloading Superantispyware Portable to a USB memory stick and trying it on the infected laptop.

If that runs okay then use Malwarebytes afterwards.0
