Combat the Christmas Crush with the NSD challenge

Ok...I'm declaring now so I'm not tempted to do any more internet shopping (which i have got a little too good at recently) - NSD #5 please Spoony!
Popped into Mr T earlier to get bread and also an assortment of tinned goods for OH while I'm away this week (beans, soup etc) as he won't eat anything 'proper' otherwise, but I had a £2.50 Clubcard voucher and managed to eeek the other 60 odd pence out of change from our change pot (though the cashier looked on in horror as I ferreted in my bag for the change) - so that doesn't get counted as a spend :j
Hopefully at least 2, if not all the days I'm away will be NSD too so I feel like I've at last got a chance of hitting my target this month.
Updated my Xmas gift and spend diary today  On the xmas gift front, I've done quite well using my shop and scan points for amaz0n stuff, and the chutney/chilli jam actually worked out quite cheap (2 jars, plus a pack of oatcakes (with mum's Mr S discount) and gift bag all comes to about £3 per person - oh and some free glass ramakins from my friend) although OH gifts came to a fair amount....
We have a bit of a Secret Santa, Craft, Bake thing this afternoon at work so I took in some of the spare jars of chutney (I was planning to take these to work to sell anyway to try and cover the cost of the ingredients) but I thought I would donate them to charity instead. Eveyone was asked just to make donations but we collected £50 for the local hospice which was great - and all this MS is all well and good but sometimes its nice to give back. I took about 8-10 jars in and only 3 came back :j 2 of which i gave to my friend (was going to give her some anyway) as she gave me the ramakins - she can take them to her sisters for Xmas as they cook big hams etc.
So not only have I had a NSD, I've done my bit to help others too today - wow, what an :A I am (just like BM:rotfl::rotfl:)
Right-ho, must update sig and then throw a few clothes in a case....Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Good evening all -
I'm a bit stressed folks, what a day!
First the good news:
Had an NSD today so that's # 10 - target met!
Got pulled in at work today and asked if I would temporaily increase my days from 2 to 3. It will be short term, Jan- March, to work with a team who are totally snowed under and who need an extra pair of hands. Although we manage ok on our income, a bit extra is always nice! I work PT as I have health issues that dont cope well with the stress of working in there FT. Having a wee ponder about that one, I've to tell them what I decide tomorrow.
Got a lift to the station this morning from a neighbour I just recently started chatting to due to the snow, ( I've only lived here for 5 years!
then this evening another (new) neighbour stopped me and asked where I got my hair done as she said she was looking for a hairdresser and she thought my hair always looked nice
So far so lovely:
Now the bad news:
Train was cancelled tonight so it took me 1 1/2 hrs to get home, which meant...........
the Doglet was in the huff cos I was late and decided to chew through the seat of my leather sofa in protest :wall:
And the ugly
I phoned my insurers to find out if I'm covered, but there were no claims advisors around, so someone will call me tomorrow. I have the M&S premier cover, so Im praying that it will cover this!
So I'm now totally stressed, I'm knackered and although I've not had any dinner, I dont feel like eating!:(

oh dear Jinty - not good about the sofa, hopefully you are covered though - if not Doglet will be in the doghouse.
Sounds like the silver lining to all that snow is meeting new people - it's nice when that happens.
Re the work offer - I'd be tempted to take the extra day on, I expect (like for the rest of us) the extra income will be welcome, and if it's one extra day just for 3mths then it's not like taking on extra hours indefinitly/perm which could stress you out. Have you managed to talk to OH about it?
Hope you've had something for dinner or Cheryl will be popping round in the Tardis to feed you (not a bad thing though!) - evenings like this call for something stodgy and comforting. In the meantime ... :grouphug:Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Fingers crossed on M & S.
Good news on neighbours.
An extra day for 3 months might be ok.

Hi jinty
Oh no... what a carp day for you, really sorry to hear that:(:(
Some good news though, lovely to hear about the neighbours, it's surprising the effect a bit of adversity can have on us:D
Re the job, would they consider 3 days one week, 2 the next, that might be a compromise for you if you're not sure about 3 days every week.
Fingers crossed for the sofa, really hope you're covered. Poor doglet, hope he's not too much in the doghouse.
Hope you had something to eat in the end, not eating won't help at all.
Take care

Thanks for the advice guys - I really appreciate it!
Have decided I'm going to do the extra day at work till March. The first three months of the year are always a bit dark and dreary, so I may as well work and get a few extra pennies. I'll have a chat with my boss today about it.
I've calmed down a bit about the sofa - poor doglet, he's not in the doghouse. At the end if the day, it's not really his fault, I just think he got a bit stressed cos I was late home. I wont be making that mistake today, I'll be leaving work sharpish!
If my insurance covers it - great, if not I'll look about for a 2nd hand one. Dont feel like shelling out loads on a new suite ATM. Lotsof folks buy new sofas for Christmas, so the time could be right for a bargain! Failing that, I can always cover the damage with a throw.;)
Not sure if today will be a NSD. I'm meant to be having lunch with a friend from work, so that will be nice.
OH will be finished the job in London today, so he is driving up tonight. Will be home early hours of tomorrow morning, so that will be great!
Have a lovely day everyone:)
