As long as you dont drive off with it on which I am sure you wont

Spoil sport. I was in Sheffield when there was about 4 inches of snow. I had to drive to Chester where there hadn't been any snow. I set my SatNav for Chester and drove the Snake Pass - the first set of tyre tracks on the road. I got to Chester and proudly still had a roof full of snow - the only car in Chester with snow on it.

Sweep it off without damaging the paintwork if you can. What happens is that the car roof gets warm and at some point in the journey when you brake for a junction or another motorist the whole load on the roof will slide down onto your windscreen. Extremely hazardous and your wipers will be overwhelmed and useless. If you can't sweep it off then at least take it all off except for an inch or so.

So my routine of running around the windows and the lights with the yardbrush, then chucking a jug of water over the windscreen isn't the best then?
(and the top of the doors to stop the seats getting covered in snow)
I leave the rest, just for the little blizzard behind me.
If I'm not using the car it's got no chance of being dug out though.

I made the mistake of leaving it piled up on my roof last year... pulled up at the first junction and suddenly a windscreen full of snow... I won't be doing that again I can assure you!

I'm leaving my snow on since the car isn't being used.

Sick of having to constantly clean my car as my neighbour keeps a bird feeder in his garden next to my driveway, so the snow will form a nice protective layer.
  • Not a great idea leaving snow on the roof of your car and then going out for a trip in it cause either you will blind yourself when it slides down your windscreen when you stop or it will come of when you accelerate and take out someone else, anyone who thinks that is funny should really grow up. Be aware that if there is a thaw and then a sudden temperature drop the snow will become ice which is worse to cleam off and more dangerous to others left on.
Make sure you clear your indicators I hate people who just do the requirements to see but not enough for other road users to see where they are going,. Also do not throw water on your windscreen as you run the risk of it cracking.

IMPORTANT:- There are thieves out there who are targeting people who leave their cars running to defrost the snow and go back indoors for something there has been reports of it on the news today and you aren't covered by your insurance either cause you left the keys in the car.
well today was a complete waste of make up
  • I've just cleared my car of snow this evening. Not used it since Wednesday night when the snow started. Was like 2 foot deep on the roof!

    I take the snow off.

Last year my best mate who has a Skyline R33 GTR decided it was too powerful for the snow/ice. Seeing as he had about 8 inches on the roof/bonnet/boot etc i decided that i may aswel bury it.

Problem is i went one step further. I completely covered the car top to bottom like an igloo. Then i added ice cold buckets of water. (pics will be added tomorrow if i can find them)

The car was frozen stuck for 3 days whilst it melted. Luckily he wasn't using the car hey

That GTR has a slightly improved version of the 4WD in my car. It's not that bad in the snow. Tell him to take it out, then pull the 4WD fuse (makes it RWD) and do a bit of car park drifting.

Then again, I wouldn't want to take a good car like that out in the snow unless I could be sure there weren't going to be other people.

It's not so much the 4wd that's the problem. It's the fact it's running 480bhp

2.6 straight 6 twin turbo = not good for snow lol !
