Hi,
Once you've felt it spinning you'll know!
You can try and stop it once you've done it.IYKWIM.
If it's not spinning....
The end will take the blade of an electrical screwdriver . Turn it to see if it's free.

You should have seen my face putting my finger in there, it was like a bushtucker trial. But yeah, it's spinning fine. plus the water in there is crazy hot. Have turned it down to 2 now. Don't know why

Hi,
No more bushtucker trials for now!
So... valves open and pump running.
Air locked pipe.
Or.. even though the tank in the roof is full the cold feed could be blocked leaving the tank full but the system drying out.
If it were me I would try and drain some water of of the system to see if the tank fills to replace it.
If not then back filling would get you going until the offending blocked cold feed is replaced.(This has been discussed on MSE before)
I think that's about it.
PS.
I have in the past had a pump where the impeller had disconnected from the shaft. ie; shaft spinning but not actually pumping anything.
Unusual though.

Do you mean by opening the valve on the last radiator? And letting it run out through a hose?He who laughs last, thinks slowest0

Hi,
If that's a drain off, then yes.

I have 4 pipes at the back of the airing cupboard which look like they go into the loft, 2 of which have red valves on, both of which are fully open (anti clockwise) not sure if this is relevant but thought I would mention itHe who laughs last, thinks slowest0

If it's an air lock is it worth me draining the system and refilling?
If so, what's the best way to do it?He who laughs last, thinks slowest0 -
Thanks, will read through and perhaps pick out some things I don't understand.....
But pretty sure I understand the logic. He who laughs last, thinks slowest0 -
If some of the radiators are working more efficiently than others could it just be a case of balancing them?
Or is that what you have described for me to do?
I keep reading things and it sounds like it could be many things (none of which I know how to do, and few i understand) - Would like to do everything I can, safely, do before ringing a plumber and he charges me for something I could do.
Wish it was like a computer, run a program that tells you what is wrong, fix it.
