Fresh British Airways strike - UPDATE 21/1 - BA CREWS VOTE FOR MORE STRIKES
Comments
-
British Airways is facing the threat of a fresh wave of strikes by its cabin crew after they voted heavily in favour of more walkouts in their bitter dispute with the airline.
Unite said its members voted by 5,751 to 1,579 to take further industrial action following 22 days of strikes last year which cost the airline more than £150 million.
The union pulled back from naming strike dates and will have to give seven days' notice of any action.
Unite's new leader, Len McCluskey, said: "For the fourth time in 13 months, British Airways cabin crew have voted overwhelmingly in support of their union and expressed their dissatisfaction with management behaviour. Indeed, the turnout and the majority on this occasion are much greater than in the last ballot.
"Surely BA management must now wake up and listen to the voice of their skilled and dedicated employees.
"This dispute will be resolved by negotiation, not litigation or confrontation, and it is to negotiation that BA management should now apply itself. We are ready."
Unite said the turnout in the ballot was 75%, while the majority of those voting for industrial action was 78.5%. The union balloted 10,220 cabin crew staff, 7,330 of whom returned valid papers.

If you've travelled on BA from heathrow recently this ain't surprising, grumpy lot they are.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Brilliant, we've booked 3 nights in New York leaving from Heathrow during Feb half term. It seems we should be ok if all long haul flights go, but it will be a bit of a worry until we know the dates of their strikes.
I don't mind BA, but we might have been better choosing to go on Virgin!

I really don't understand them. In these days, when people struggle to find job, are scared of redundancies or having to work short week to save their company and jobs..
BA employees think is good time to strike?:mad:Best wins ever:
2012: Holiday to LA for 2 adults +2 kids for 4 days
2013: £2 000 Virgin Holiday Voucher!
2014: $1000 spending money for hols
2015: 8 night holiday to Thailand0 -
We've booked 3 nights in NYC at half term too - with BA direct and it included the hotel so it's a package, does anyone know if they do decide to strike them will they move the hotel booking and the flight? Off to book some insurance now - do any companies include cover for instances such as this?0

Insurance should cover you as long as the strike dates haven't been announced when you take it out, but check the policy wording.0

They must have good reason to vote for a strike, nobody takes that decision lightly0 -
I took a conscious decision a few years ago never to fly with BA again.
Their flight attendants are amongst the most arrogant, unfriendly and unhelpful I've encountered in many years of flying.
Their subsequent industrial action which has caused huge damage and disruption to our national carrier and its image merely confirmed I'd made the right choice.
I hope Willie Walsh rides them and their avaricious greed into the ground.0 -
I am flying BA at easter too. Not by choice, they were the only airline that flew where I wanted to goI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
