MSE News: Top energy deal from EDF set to disappear

  • Are you sure tou get the £82.50 as well as the £100 from EDF?

£82.50 seems like a lot of cashback - could it be that EDF pay the £100 that would normally go to someone who switches directly on their website to getcashback, and they pass on £82.50 to you?

    off the EDF website
    • Our cheapest tariff
    • 2% minimum discount on our Standard tariff rates until 31 December 2011
    • Available for a limited period
    • If your are a new customer and switch before 30 November for Dual Fuel, you'll also receive up to £100 Welcome Bonus+
If you're a new customer and switch before 30 November for Dual Fuel, you'll also receive up to £100 Welcome Bonus. Your account(s) will be automatically credited with £75 for Electricity and £25 for Gas within a maximum of 90 days from your supply start date with EDF Energy.

The cashback is a separate offer that adds to the welcome bonus & comes from the cashback sites referral commission.

    Getpoundsback is £82.40 cashback
    Topcashback is £80.80 cashback

If you earned over £30 last month on TCB, then you would be better off with them otherwise GPB has the best rate
Both have no admin fee to worry about

Quidco is £80 with £5 admin annual fee

I got both with Quidco £80 and the EDF Welcome bonus £100.

Has your Quidco showed up as tracked? How long did it take?

You certainly get both - the £80 cashback from the cashback site and the £100 credit on your bill from EDF - for switching to this specific tariff.

I found that in my case the standing charges/units are actually quite high and so you need these two bonuses and the other ongoing discounts to make it worthwhile to change to this tariff.

I must admit I was tempted to go with TopCashBack for 101% at £80.80 but find Quidco very reliable.

Has it tracked with your other site already?

mines showing as tracked now on GPB

Yes it has tracked. Didn't take long at all. I have never had a problem with Quidco over any purchases.

EDF's offer was the best for me anyway ,with the bonusand cashback adding to the benefit.

I switched yesterday because it said to do so before 30th to get the £100 Welcome Bonus.

But I hope it doesn't actually expire until the end of today, so that more people still have a chance to apply.

I switched via Topcashback and it has tracked, but I haven't received any confirmation from EDF about the switch.

Did everyone who switched receive confirmation by email straightaway?

Yes, I had same day notification by e mail and written two days later.

    Thanks for replying, backfoot.

I contacted EDF via their online chat to say that I'd had no email confirmation, and they said there was no record of my application yesterday, even though I explained that the Topcashback had tracked.

They stayed online whilst I applied again to make sure that it went through this time. £100 bonus still applied.

Really glad I contacted them otherwise I would have lost out. Thank you backfoot.

Mine with Quidco didn't track so I've made an enquiry and it says "Enquiry Being Processed". I just hope it works in the end.
