  • Spent another £67 in Mr S last night. Not doing too badly so far, but we do have a bumper budget this month. Next week is the big shop for the Christmas food and alcohol so not looking forward to that one!

    It seems I've 'lost' £10 odd from my budget though, as my spreadsheet and my online banking don't match and I can't for the life of me figure out why grr!

  • Hello. Not had much chance to post lately as have been so busy. Am down to the last £50 of my budget. The good news is I've brought all my alcohol for Christmas and all the non-fresh bits. Also have soups for lunch in the fridge which will last me until I finish work on 23rd. Have a few things to be used up in the freezer and larder so hope to polish those off after Christmas and come in under budget for the month. Will be tight thought. Enjoy your weekends and stay warm.

  • Hi quintwins - NSD stands for no spend day. For some people, like myself this simply means no spending on groceries (or whatever is in your grocery target) but for some it means a complate no spend, i.e. no direct debits, mortgage or buying of clothes or other items etc. It is entirely up to you.

    I have had an unexpected NSD today as I have DD off ill so haven't gone anywhere. Yesterday I felt ill but did manage to spend some money in Aldi & Lidl last night. I will be so glad when we break up on Tuesday. Everyone is so tired in our house & everything seems such an effort to be honest at the moment. I am going to a wedding reception tonight & tbh, I'd be just as happy to stay in!

    I still have some bits to get. I have wine now but no beer, no cranberry sauce, F & V obviously still to get, some sherry for my Mum & some ink cartridges for the printer.

    Well I think we have done the last shop for this month (and the year :eek:). Although I won't say for definate yet!
    We have loads in now (fridge, cupboards, storage spaces and freezer all full. Still need to defrost the freezer which is annoying as we had been trying so hard to empty it :doh:) and even if it snows really bad (it has stopped snowing for the moment though) so we can't go anywhere we will be good for ages.
    Managed to get 500g parsnips for 11p so picked up two of those - 22p for 1kg of parsnips :T which made them cheaper than 1kg of basic carrots :rotfl:.

    Budget = £20 cash + £100 Mr S giftcard
    Spent = £19.89 cash + £100 Mr S giftcard
    Left = £0.11 cash + £0 Mr S giftcard

    We will be adding money onto the gift card in the New Year - Lol, I'm already thiking of next years Yule and this one hasn't even happened yet.

    With my silverside, I am going to roast it a lovely medium rare and then use it like that. You could make a wonderful hot buffet with it by thinly slicing some of it (freezing the rest sliced for roast dinners later in next year) adding the thin slices to small yorkshire puds (home made or the value ones in Asda or Tesco) and adding some horseradish sauce on top- Lovely!!!

    That does sound lovely, what else would you serve with it though? I'm doing a Chilli, Garlic Bread and Baked Potatoes so what choices could I give with the Yorkies?

    I donno.... I would have just left them as another thing to pick up but you could make cones of parsnip chips or something? Or even better a big bowl of sweet potato mash!

    Have spent a huge £109.51 since last post but I do have the majority of the Christmas food shopping now and also the drinks are sorted. I just need to buy fruit, veg, bread and rolls,, some butter, a pork pie, some cheese, a couple of bottles of coke, some fresh orange juice, also two bunches of flowers, one for the house and one to take up to daughters grave on Christmas afternoon. Everything else is in the cupboards and freezers. :)
    The turkey we are getting on Thursday but we left a big deposit on it so it should pay for it and if not it will only be a few £’s extra. Likewise the rib of beef. So it looks positive for coming under budget
    I need to make my sausage rolls, scotch eggs and mince pies (although pastry is in the freezer already made) so intend to do this on Thursday or Friday if I am pushed for time.
    Almost brought everyone’s presents now, just a couple of computer games for one of the grandsons which DS is picking up for me hopefully tomorrow. Just need to wrap them all now which will start tonight.
    I have almost £100 in Te$co vouchers, £50 C0 0P ones, £30 M&S and also £16 in A$da vouchers which I will use some time in 2011 so as to stock up when we need it. :T

    Hope that everyone is nearly done and can then enjoy the season. :xmassmile

    Hi all seems to have been a while since I last updated. I've been keeping spending to a minimum but have deffinately noticed the rise in prices. I needed a lot of fruit the other day (DS love his fruit so I dotn grudge buying it for him - at least I know he's eating something healthy) and my shopping came to about (before discount) £18!!! I'm still quite happy with where I am at this point but was hoping to stay well under. Totals for the last few days are £26.42 however I have stocked up on deoderant (mitch1m seems to be reduced to 65p at the moment and its one of the few I can use repeatedly with no effect to my annoying sensitive skin).
    Fruit total was £6.97 for bananas, grapes, apples, pears, raisins and melon - maybe its not so bad??
    Other stuff was quite expensive aswell BUT I did get my cheese at £3.25 confused0016.gif (Cat city costs a fortune but its my little treat to myself) and a rad1o t1mes for £2.40. The rest of the shopping was deoderant (4 of them ashamed0005.gif), shampoo, some reduced chilli beef, butter, a few sweets for DS, some reduced cakes to take up to my parents for after dinner that night and not much else anim_59.gif. Oh well should only need bread, milk and a carrot (to leave out for Rudolph as DS was not impressed last year that we forgot it)

    Hope everyone is warm and well
    Emma :dance:

    Not posted in ages:o hope everyone is doing ok. Just updated total in signature, cupboards are a bit bare at the moment so creative meal planning will be in demand, meant to be a family christmas meal this eve but starting to look doubtful due to weather :mad: so I'm off too see what is lurking in the freezer that can be cooked to replace the 3 course meal if it does get cancelled.
