    Morning All,
Hope everyone is just about ready for christmas?!
I think I'm just about there. I, like many others have been out at work xmas do's, why is every meal out at xmas really poor??? I'm definately not paying £20 for it next year. One more to go which I hope is not so bad.

I stopped going to work xmas do's a couple of years ago. Got a lot of hassle from my co-workers at the time but I stuck to my guns and didnt go. My thinking is that if Im going to spend £X on a meal out, I'd rather go out with my OH or my family. This year our office do was £40 for a meal with only one choice per course and a disco. Add to that the cost of an outfit, drinks, taxi home etc and you could have a weekend away somewhere (MSE style of course!)

Small spends today, sausage rolls and doughnuts from Gr€ggs, have adjusted sig. Tomorrow I'm doing my last "normal" shop for Dec as I get paid on Monday. Have @£50 left in budget, so should be doable.;) I'm combining this shop with some purchases required for Christmas, but I have another budget for this. Will have to remain focussed! When you factor in that OH is coming too, anything could happen!:rotfl:

Hello All. Just updated my signature and its not looking too good. I need to find out from DH what day is payday so I can take a deep breathe and plan. I really don't want to go over budget. Have got the Mr M vouchers coming so that should take up some of the possible overspends. Problem is my Nanny passed away last week and my meal plan is shot to hell. I can seem to even think about baking so have ended up buying cakes for the children which I never normally do. Will have to sort it out. I plan to make biscuits for teachers with children later and make a chicken pie for tea. Might go and break the back of it now before it looks like fish fingers for tea.

    Onwards and upwards...

Well the decision to shop on Wednesday night in stead of Thursday morning has meant that I have been panicked into overspending! I am over but by only about 1% of my budget so I am fairly happy with that. Hope I won't have to buy too much more before Thursday next week and then it's just F&V and a few treats for Christmas Day which is out of another budget.

In my defence though we were due to visit rellies on Sunday and that now looks in doubt because of the weather - so I had to buy extra stuff for a meal that I was planning to eat away from home IYSWIM. Well that's my excuse...!

I agree about works 'do's' - I never go to Christmas meals even when they are free - because a) I can't face eating more than one Christmas dinner and b) I prefer to choose what I eat and whom I eat it with! Actually, I think my colleagues are secretly relieved because I can cover for them when they have long lunches/leave early to party!

In case anyone's interested, Sainsbugs were selling 6 'Luxury' mini crackers for £4-99 yesterday which I thought was a fair price, but when I go home I found that I had only been charged £2-49 though I don't remember seeing a 'reduced' sticker - result! Might be worth checking out for next year...(i.e. buy another one now for Christmas 2011 if you can face thinking about it!)

Off to work now. Hope the snow stays away till after 9.30 when I get home. Have a good evening folks.

I've lost a receipt but spent somewhere between £5 & £6 at lidl & mr S today on eggs, fromage frais, smoked mackerel, broccoli, tea bags & chicken. Naturally the meat was reduced ;) Doesn't sound like diet food but this was mainly a shop in prep of my diet which started today!

Something seemed to be up in mr S as crates of burgers, sausages and veg packs were being wheeled onto the shop floor already reduced, I almost bought 75% off lamb shanks until i found the chicken which was cheaper and will last longer.

Hello all :) slowly coming back into the land of nod so will start the challenge again from Jan. Mum has kindly said she will get me a new big freezer and fridge for my pantry to replace one that has given up the ghost. So I'm going to order some fish from cornwall and some meat from wales online and get them delivered ready for the new freezer. The two companies are much better than anywhere here and really taste amazing!

Really want to have some nice food in ready for the new year....

Can't believe though that it's the sixteenth!!! It has gone SO quick!!!
