Another £10 spend this weekend - and will be going to Mr S tomorrow. Over budget now, but I had a feeling it would happen this month....Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300
Grocery Challenge 13 -spent £1453.06
Grocery Challenge 12 -spent £1565.510 -
£80 spent in As~a on Saturday, £18 on 3 cases of beer, £20 on 6 bottles of wine, £5 on 3 boxes baby porridge and some other bits including £12 on a Les Miz DVD (out of a different budget), dog food, face wash and deoderant. I am sure I don't remember my deoderant being £2.35, it must have gone up like everything else:(
Oops forgot spent £1 in sains on some pork snacky things for DH which stunk_pale_ but he liked them and £9 on a Maccy Ds.
Only need to get the fresh stuff now and a couple of bottles of Rose and one of white for guests. Need to keep DH away from the red as we 'sampled' one bottle of it on Saturday night:o
I realised I have also not included an extra weeks food/dog food/formula in my budget as now that I have run out of SMP we will be running from DH pay day which is almost a week after mine so this month we have to cover 26th Nov to 30th Jan. Grown ups should be able to live off Christmas left overs and the freezer but dogs and DS will need to be bought for.
This week we are eating out of the freezer to make space for the Christmas grub. So far have managed to shift 1 bag of Qu0rn mince, 2 pots of qu0rn chilli and this week I will be removing 2 pots of bolognaise and a garlic bread, 4 mini pizzas, frozen veg and 5 sausages. It's the bread and rolls I need that will take up so much space. Just remembered I have a 7lb ham joint to defrost on Wednesday so I will probably have room after all:rotfl:
Best go check all my recipes to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. Very tempted to try the muffin recipe posted by Moniker. Will make a nice change to mince pies.:)Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Hello
I would like to join this challenge in January please as feel this is an area in our house that could easily be looked at. I am determined to get our debts down this year so if the OH has to deal with non brand stuff for a while and cut down on his beers at home then so be it.
Please could you put me down for £125 for Jan please.
Ps love reading all your posts, you are all very motivating.

I spent €15 in the local Dunnes on Thurs to get meat, and then €77 in Suoerquinn on Fri night, to get everything else we needed for the week. I think.
My freezer is overfull again, but I will use up some stuff this week. I had gotten frozen veg to have, but have other baking etc there too, and extra meat cos of weather.
I still have €248 of my annual budget, but I shouldn't need much more before year end.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

I seem to have overspent at the weekend - probably as a result of having to cancel social plans due to snow and spend weekend in alone. Ended up splashing out £6 on a piece of steak (and very nice it was too) and some mulled wine plus the usual groceries. Almost at budget and have a few things to get for Christmas shop and then survive to the end of Dec - washing powder etc will all need replenishing by then. Still, got a few bits I can use up so hopefully won't go too far over.
Can i be put down for £125 in January please.0 -
I think I am actually going to come in on budget this month shock horror. I dont know if thats because of the snow or the fact that we are planning the christmas shopping as well or what really. Maybe just luck lol.
I have to do the big christmas shop on Thursday (weather permitting). I havent been out for 3 days now due to the snow so cabin fever is setting in lol. We dont have much snow but its so slippery that I just dont want to have a fall (or crash the car). I hope the shops are all prepared for the amount of people doing a big shop later this week!2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.

I was due to go and see my dad and stepmum today, but he called me first thing saying not to as the roads near them were quite bad. My dad had to abandon his car and walk about 6 miles to get home and a friend I spoke to today had to leave his car too, so there was no chance I was risking it! My car has been parked outside since I got home from work on Friday now (trust me to get a 'week off' when I can't go anywhere
)
Had a wander (well more of a shuffle) into town earlier. The roads here aren't too bad, but the pavements are just sludge, but I made it there and back without falling over
Anyway! £5.42 spent on milk, shampoo, conditioner and 'female essentials'. Annoyed with myself for running low on all but milk as never usually do and spent more using the local shops. Nevermind!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Well I have lost the plot I think and I am going to declare at £358.72 for December - £8-72 over budget.
I did get into work today but left early so as to get home in daylight and stopped off on the way to get some stuff from the local C0-0p. Mainly this was stuff on my Christmas Day list, but I have used some of the veges I bought to make another batch of soup. However, I can't be sure which stuff I will used before the big day and there's still stuff I need which I didn't get as I didn't take my shopping list with me!
To be fair, I didn't expect to get the chance to go to the shops - but you know what it's like! Everyone in there was shopping like the shops were going to close tomorrow, and I felt like the guy in that Kipling poem , "If" (If you can keep your head whilst all around you are losing theirs...!) - it was hard not to be swept up in the 'excitement'! But I didn't buy any stuff we won't use.
I won't be starting my January budget until after we come back from visiting DD1 in Germany and tbh I can't get my brain round January yet! Driving in this weather is so tiring - I just want to curl up and go to sleep and wake up when it's all over! As my DB says about the snow 'it's ok on a Christmas card'.
May have to go into work again tomorrow if they are open - we shall see.
Keep safe everyone.
Love Moniker0
