It's a bit scarey as I have spent nearly half my December budget already, but am hoping that I will only need the proverbial F&V and milk now till the 23rd. Popped into Mr W's this afternoon as I was in town to visit the opticians which is next door. I just bought some extra veg and milk in case of snow - nothing here yet but we might get some tomorrow. I also bought a frozen turkey crown which was £17, but this came out of my Christmas cash fund so not counted in the December GC.

I am please with myself as the chicken I cooked at the weekend has been well and truly rubbered! I cooked it for four of us yesterday with roast tatties etc, and today DH and I are having it with rice and cheese and tomorrow in a broccoli bake. I also made four rounds of sandwiches for our packups today and tomorrow, and the carcass is bubbling in the SC to make stock as I type. Not bad for a bird that was supposed to be for 3-4 people!

Well, off to dish up supper now. Catch up later folks

  • Hi,

I'm new to this but would like to join the December GC. I currently spend between £250-£350, but last month spent £375 which was just for me and my OH, so really want to get it under control for the new year.

I would like to put myself down for £250.00 this month please, and I can then see where to go from there. Spends include all groceries, cleaning products, toiletries and alcohol (I don't have separate budgets for these).

I look forward to keeping up with the thread.

    Thanks, Julie
  • Small spend of £3.50 today on toiletrolls & 2 lots of milk from Farm Foods.

Elf06 - I can't believe it is the last challenge of the year either. This year has flown by for me & it feels like it should still be August or September! (Well apart from the sub-zero temperatures! Even our new guinea pig is being brought into the kitchen at night times at the moment.)

Thanks as usual to Rosieben, Pink & Mrs M for running this thread,it is much appreciated.

    I second that!

Another spend in C**p, including a whoopsied chicken, which I roasted for tea tonight, and then being ultra-organized made the leftovers into a spinach and chicken gallette which now lives in the freezer.

I have spent a horrible amount already, but I am trying to build up some special offer meat and batch cooked meals in the freezer. I have found this has helped me towards the end of the last few GC.

We run payday to payday, which is the last Wednesday of the month, so I am not sure how that will be affected in December. We might end up with a 5 week month, or a 4 week month. I will need to find out. Should have thought of that before I set our budget .

    Good luck everyone. x
  • Hi All,
I've been reading but not posting, but this month i would like to rejoin and hopefully stick to a budget of £60 - this is everything from a supermarket as most of my gift shopping is already done.
    thanks Mrs M

    Hi all

Been reading this thread (and picking up tips) for a few weeks and would really like to join for Dec.

I've no idea what I spend on groceries each month. But will have a guess at £350.

I've tried to save my receipts for Nov as suggested, printed off a weekly meal & shopping planner (will try to fill it in tomorrow in preparation) and will be more strict with saving receipts and sticking to list. I do tend to wander round with a list, but always buy extras :(. And my son is a fiend for ringing when I'm out and asking for stuff!

Anyway, I'm determined to be more organised and 'plan':)
  • £220 this month please (26th Nov - 23rd Dec), although I only have £85 left.... I am sure this is manageable!!!
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!
