Mammogram went ok thanks - results in 2-3 weeks. I could've done without that hanging over me on the run up to Christmas, but not much I can do about it.

Had my second depressing trip into town for Christmas presents today - it really isn't much fun shopping when you have sod all money, and I've come back feeling a bit low. Daughter is having a bad run of days too which doesn't help - well, a bad few weeks actually. New meds are still causing insomnia but now she has extreme agitation too :( If it was an option to cancel Christmas, I would. This year and all the c r a p that's come with it has all but run me into the ground.

Anyway - enough of my wallowing (sorry :o )

Oh, honey - you have my sympathies; I hate having the boobsquish and then the awful wait, and it really isn't much fun going round the shops at this time of year when you are skint. Sending you hugs, and I'm sure no-one minds at all if you have a wallow, love - we're all here to support each other!

Disaster! Spent £100 in T's today.
Now i need to sort it into christmas presents, christmas cooking (all baking type stuff, so lasts me a good few months), toiletries and actual food, then i'll decide if its included in my food budget or not.
I did pick up a cook book for myself at £5, its 4Ingredients2. i used to watch the programme on cable when i had it and its brill, only 4 ingredients to make a meal with, ive been looking for ages for it and any time ive found it its about £10, so a wee bargin for me. Now to find the 1st book hehehe

oh my T's had a 1 carton of milk and a 1 loaf of bread rule in force today, and they where enforcing it although i did get 3 cartons of goats milk through, i dont think the cashier realised it was actually milk hehehe

Not sure if it's been posted already, but if it's any use to anyone, here's Lidl's weekend offers...

    500g mince - 99p
    1.5l fruit juice - 39p
    Case of clementines (2.3kg) - £1.74
    1kg carrots - 29p

Typical that i'm not working this Saturday as I only work 2 mins away and usually pop in before work! I might have to make a special trip though as they're really good offers this week.

To keep it more on topic, today was a no spend day!

Thanks for the support kippers and Menolly :kisses3:

Had a NSD here - it still doesn't alter the alarming amount of money I've spent already, but at least I haven't added to it....I will tomorrow though

£idls also have 300g Pork Loin Medallions for £1.99 and 400g blocks of Valley Spire Extra Mature Cheddar for £1.69 (I shall be getting a couple of those) and 2 packs of Bran$ton Beans for £3, which I personally prefer to to He!nz but would be a bit heavy in the old backpack

But not chicken.....and I so wanted them to have Chicken Thighs or Breasts on offer. Oh well - have to wait and see what next Thursday brings. Think I've got a 3 meals worth of Diced Chicken Breast left and 2 meals worth of Chicken Thighs, but if they don't soon have an offer on, I shall be having to pay full price!! :naughty:

I have just done my home delivery xmas shop and the total of my basket makes me want to cry AND this is after I have emptied the basket of my non essential store cupboard basics!

I'm being resolute though. I'm not cooking on xmas day - and there will be lots of visiting with everyone else putting on the food and me simply taking wine  so I am stocking up so I have plenty.

This xmas spend is going to mean I am going to go over budget this month :( but its not as bad as I fear because some of the bottles of wine I have ordered are for xmas presents and since we try to give up alcohol in January, I am sure / hoping the beer I am getting will last until Spring :rotfl:

In my mind, I am borrowing from the January budget so January is going to be a very frugal month !
how do others manage with their budget and their xmas shop ?

Well, I've updated my signature - I made out my "My Supermarket" list and included a turkey breast joint and small gammon for DH and me to have (we are going to his daughter and family for Christmas but it is nice to have cold cuts and to be honest, we both prefer cold turkey anyway! Also bought sparkling wine (for Christmas Day and New Years Eve), Mr T's special £25 deal on spirits (Famous Gr0use and Jack Dan Bourbon), cider on special (2x 15 cans for £16.00), some ginger wine, a bottle of sherry and my one winter warmer treat (Sloe Gin - didn't get around to making any last year or this, what with everything else going on!).
I also got the red peppers, chillies, Jam Sugar and cider vinegar to make Nigella's Chilli Jam and red onions, redcurrant jelly and demerara sugar for Red Onion Marmalade (Christmas presents for our 2 sons-in-law), frozen fruit for the two Raspberry and Apple Drizzle Cakes (for my 2 step-daughters). Spent a whopping £239.29, which with the various multibuy and wine discounts came down to £205.23. So, I used £127.50 Clubcard vouchers and £77.73 cash.

I did have to scootch some cash from the housekeeping pot for stamps for the overseas cards - not too bad really cost-wise - I send one to Italy to my cousin, one to the USA and then four to family in South Africa.

So I counted it up and I have £193 to see me through to the end of December. I won't have to buy any more Christmas stuff now and everyone is getting knitted or sewn presents (yarn and fabric from my embarrassingly large stash:o), home made bath bombs and candles, or edible gifts. Move over, Kirstie Allsopp! :rotfl:

Just want to say that I love your post.

I love the sound of your Christmas......the food, the booze - especially the Sloe Gin  the gorgeous home made cakes, the divine sounding Red Onion Marmalade, the home made bath bombs and candles........what a lucky family you have. You seem so well organised and clearly very talented :)

You make me feel totally inadequate and lazy, lol, but well done you :T

Went shopping today and stuck to the list ALMOST 100% but then saw a few bits that I got for christmas week so these bumped the total up.
In the end spent £52.48 but over £20 of this is for christmas food so all things considering not to bad, this included a large ham, some brandy snap baskets, prawns and vol au vent cases.
Also had a few fish and chips while out today but DH paid for these so not counting them - very nice they were too. :D

On track for this month but have increased the total a fair amount and its early days yet :)
    MARCH £62.38/250
