Franby yes it is worrying with these price hikes.
I drink Earl Grey and at one time you could get them very reasonably in Morrisons and so I used to stock up there. Then the price started jumping but they were still cheaper than elsewhere.
Recently I was looking on MySupermarket and spotted Sainsburys had their finest for £1.49 x 100 which is very good. I bought six boxes but now wish I had bought more!Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Went to the Co Op today so have just updated signature with that & also some spends in Farm Foods & Morrisons from the other day that I had forgotten to add on. The Co Op had loads of loaves of bread reduced to 16p but unfortunately I could only get two as my freezer is full. They don't seem to have cottoned onto the fact that since the little Tesco opened in the town, they probably don't need to order so much beacuse every time I go in there lately they have loads of reduced bread, although good for me of course!
I am really cold today & debating whether to put the heating on or not. It was trying to snow again earlier. I've had enough of it now & envy my brother who is off to Hong Kong on Saturday fora couple of days followed by a month in Australia, lucky thing!Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0 -

Trying to keep my spending steady at this point in the month, I am finding I have to be careful mixing up budgets with the Christmas malarky and buying food and non-food stuff from the same shop!
I have managed to seperate the spending afterwards in my various spreadsheets :rotfl:but it's very easy to lose track.
I have stocked up on a few more Mr S basic items, including 3 bars of chocolate, cookies and peanuts for my emergency car box, more salt, stuffing, custard.
Also trying out Basics cereals, the weetabix copy (59p) went down well with DDs this morning but I'm less optimistic about the 'cornflakes' - but for 31p they are good to have in my desk for emergencies.
Not much else bought of note, usual milk/fruit/veg/tuna. Am making a batch of lasagne tonight so will have to venture to Mr Ts for mince and (hopefully) some reduced crusty rolls to turn into garlic bread.
I absolutely love my HM lasagne (oh the modesty lol) but haven't made a biiiig one for ages as OH doesn't really like it and prefers spag bol and until recently I was convinced DDs were the same! 'Oh no Mummy, we love lasagne'!!:rotfl:
Bizarrely I really don't particularly enjoy spag bol. DDs will eat the bolog sauce straight from the fridge!
Anyway, back on topic. Have updated my sig and will be digging out an old purse to use as 'grocery only'.0 -
Did a little extra shopping yesterday - got cucumber, lettuce, cream and 3 bts of $urf (b1g2f). Total cost of £5.72. Will update sig nowEmma

August GC £0/£3000 -
Spent the mysterious fiver on a treat of lidl line and chorizo
Today I also bought oats 39p and reduced plums for 39p that are still too hard!! There were packs of smoked salmon with 75% off but they still weren't under £1 so I didn't get any! I am sooo tempted to pop back later to see if they're reduced more, there were millions and they're not a popular whoopsie. I clearly buy too much reduced food and spend too long studying the best sellers and most reduced items...
I've noticed a lot of people include toiletries in their budget, but I don't do this. My toiletries are almost an identical price each month and i'm happy with that amount and the quality I get for it. I don't mind basics food, but make up or cosmetics you get what you pay for 90% of the time and I'm willing to pay a little extraLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0
