DD sent me a message from Uni asking for Amerett0. Does anyone know where the best place to buy it is? Never bought it before.
For years and years it was called Amaretto di Sarrono, but for some reason, a few years back they changed it around and now it's Disaronno Amaretto  Anyway, all the SMs sell it, as do all off licences. It's on offer @ £11 a bottle at the mo in $ainsburys, Te$cos & A$da.

Hippeechic I noticed on Mysupermarket that Tesco Ultraslim is currently £3.00 per tin and will be so until Feb 11.

The strawberry one is for 12 servings but the chocolate one is 8 servings only. Have never tried it, but I thought I would get a tin of each to see what my ds thinks of it. If he likes it I shall be bulk buying. :)
Yeah, I looked into the possibility of that a while back larmy As I understand it, you make it with water instead of milk (I think). I did research online but it had mixed reviews, so I stuck with $limfast. So I'd be interested to see what he thinks of it :)

Mammogram went ok thanks - results in 2-3 weeks. I could've done without that hanging over me on the run up to Christmas, but not much I can do about it.

Had my second depressing trip into town for Christmas presents today - it really isn't much fun shopping when you have sod all money, and I've come back feeling a bit low. Daughter is having a bad run of days too which doesn't help - well, a bad few weeks actually. New meds are still causing insomnia but now she has extreme agitation too :( If it was an option to cancel Christmas, I would. This year and all the c r a p that's come with it has all but run me into the ground.

Anyway - enough of my wallowing (sorry :o )

More spends today bringing my total so far to £141.16, so I've now spent more than I have left at my disposal.

Been busy as SIL phoned to ask 'would we go and defrost his water pipes' :o:rotfl::rotfl:All done now and water flowing freely.

Had to go to Te$co the other day and spent £20.92 on hardly anything - 3 kg salt for the paths, cheese BOGOF, lemon and sultana pancakes also BOGOF, bread on offer at 2 4 £2, some tomato soup - I know you can make soup but to be honest there's nothing quite like H£inz tom soup in my opinion. Brought some pickled onions for christmas and yep you guessed it - I have eaten the lot! a large jar all to myself   going to leave next lot at mums and ask her to wrap them up for me as a pressie to myself :rotfl::rotfl:

Managed to go christmas shopping and did pretty well just a few more to get so hopefully only have to go once more or twice at the most.

Have also done a complete food list for 25th - 26th so know what we need and will hopefully get that soon. Its rather long but if things arent used they will be portioned up and frozen so no waste. Just have to watch dont get too much bread as its one thing I never freeze as it always seems 'wet' to me when eaten :(

Have a list for tomorrow but theres not that much on it as have a lot of stuff in and fingers crossed I stick to it.

Hope everyone is safe, well and warm.
    MARCH £62.38/250
  • Hi All Haven;t been on for ages due to moving house. Have updated my signature although I have gone over my yearly target I may end up spending around the same as last year. Still have the big Christmas shop to do. Going to try and buy only the minimum for next week. Right off to do a meal plan and small shopping list for next week. Good luck everyone.

I freeze mine in bags of 2 and 4, and only use in the toaster, as i too dont think the breads the same after defrosting.

Spent £59 in savings stamps and £22 in real money last night in Mr M. Bought my own butter mountain to make DS christening cake for Sunday, some bits for Christmas and some of the B1G2F chocs for DH staff. I also bought the goats cheese to prepare the starters for boxing day in advance as last time I made this recipe I didn't start it rearly enough and it was a disaster. Smelt lovely though:o

I should have about £100 left and really want this to last us until the end of the month although DH will be paid again on 24th December. January is going to be really tight for us as I have to be DS first month of full time nursery fees in advance.

I have had no internet connection this week so ((hugs)) and :Twhere needed, I am off to catch up wth the thread.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
  • Well, I've updated my signature - I made out my "My Supermarket" list and included a turkey breast joint and small gammon for DH and me to have (we are going to his daughter and family for Christmas but it is nice to have cold cuts and to be honest, we both prefer cold turkey anyway! Also bought sparkling wine (for Christmas Day and New Years Eve), Mr T's special £25 deal on spirits (Famous Gr0use and Jack Dan Bourbon), cider on special (2x 15 cans for £16.00), some ginger wine, a bottle of sherry and my one winter warmer treat (Sloe Gin - didn't get around to making any last year or this, what with everything else going on!).
I also got the red peppers, chillies, Jam Sugar and cider vinegar to make Nigella's Chilli Jam and red onions, redcurrant jelly and demerara sugar for Red Onion Marmalade (Christmas presents for our 2 sons-in-law), frozen fruit for the two Raspberry and Apple Drizzle Cakes (for my 2 step-daughters). Spent a whopping £239.29, which with the various multibuy and wine discounts came down to £205.23. So, I used £127.50 Clubcard vouchers and £77.73 cash.

I did have to scootch some cash from the housekeeping pot for stamps for the overseas cards - not too bad really cost-wise - I send one to Italy to my cousin, one to the USA and then four to family in South Africa.

So I counted it up and I have £193 to see me through to the end of December. I won't have to buy any more Christmas stuff now and everyone is getting knitted or sewn presents (yarn and fabric from my embarrassingly large stash:o), home made bath bombs and candles, or edible gifts. Move over, Kirstie Allsopp! :rotfl:

    10/11/10 Spent £84.95 17/11/10 Spent £79.63 24/11/10 Spent £75.39 :j
December Grocery Challenge 30/11/10 Spent £32 Clubcard Vouchers and £79.15 Cash. 08/12/10 Spent £77.73 Cash and £127.50 Clubcard Vouchers - Christmas is now sorted!!! :snow_grin

Just back from my weekly trolley run to Sainsbugs and have updated my sig. I have about £58 to last till the 23rd which should be ok as I don't need any major items and on 23rd will be buying Christmas food for just three of us (not from the GC budget) so I am feeling quietly confident! I have £45 in N*ctar points too which will go towards the first big shop in January.

I thought that I had some prawns in the freezer which I was going to use for our dinner tomorrow but when I went to look they weren't there - perhaps I imagined them! But I will do some pasta with mushroom and tomato sauce instead and not go rushing out to buy some more prawns.

Have also bought a kilo of tomatoes today to make soup - was going to have tomato and orange for our starter on Christmas Day but have just remembered that MIL can't eat oranges so will have to fall back on my first choice which was watercress soup. I will make the other one anyway as it freezes ok and we will eat it in our packups.

We're having cannelloni for lunch today which I assembled last night - just have to put some grated cheese on top. Also have a loaf of bread on the go in the BM which should be finished before I head off to work later this afternoon.

Have a good rest of the day folks and keep warm.
