That way i can break into the matched betting lark, and hopefully get a fast track insight into how this malarkey works. I kinda get the principle, effectively betting against yourselft with bonus cash from the bookie to protect against loss, but the minutae of the beginner's thread is making my brain hurt...
Try and find an example.
I cant say put money on X because it changes all the time - how about looking in the tips thread and then following through the maths/checking out the screens etc. I'm sure it will twig then. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

it's not..IF you can control your activity and restrict it to the parameters within the "free bet" and "no risk". What I am concerned about is people with huge debts seeing this as a solution, that's all. It's not a dislike of gambling as I enjoy a flutter on occaison.
(and no, I don;t and have never had a gambling habit).
1. I never said I saw it as a solution
2. In the past 2 months I've earned over £150 from Quidco by using a few bingo sites which offer bonuses and cashback. I play through however much of my deposit and bonus is necessary to get the cashback then I tick it off my list and don't go back to the bingo site again. I'd say that's pretty controlled behaviour, wouldn't you?
Again, it is a mistake to judge people and I'm finding your posts incredibly offensive now.Debt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24

There is no fast track. If you put bets on without understanding the concept you will get it wrong!
You just to have to keep reading it over and over and it does eventually click. I kept coming back to it over a period of 6 months until one day it just hit home!0 -

I read it once, it made no sense. Then one day i was mulling it over, while brushing my teeth or something, and it made some sense, then i read it some more and it made more sense. Then i looked at betfair, and got all confused again..."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0

In a way I have to agree with magic pants.... although you can't 'lose money' I still see it as gambling...
Fair play to those of you who have made a killing on it thoughSaving for a deposit: £20,551 / £25,000 - 82% of the way there...0 -

:wall:
Can you define what gambling is? To me gambling means taking a risk where you can lose. Whether it be money, shares, property, whatever the stake is.
Does it mean anything significantly different?
If we agree it doesn't you have contradicted yourself.
I'm not having a go but someone reading this could be put off by your comments when there is so much easy RISK FREE money to be made.0 -

Ultimately I think if you read the guidelines of do's and don'ts and at any point can't HONESTLY say you can follow them... THEN DON'T DO IT!
If you know you struggle with walking away when gambling (does the fruitmachines at the pub call out to you?) then this is NOT for you
