Thanking you!
:hello:
Do you get this?I bet £10 on A at 2.0 so I can win £20 or lose £10
I lay £10 on A at 2.0 so I can win £10 or lose £20
If I win I get £20
If I lose I get £20
This is the match
Overall effect is nil - useless with my own money, but with a £10 bonus from a bookmaker I have only spent £10 of my own money on this match and made £10 profit.
It is a simplified mathematical explanation but this is how it works in principle
If so then read the starter thread until it all sinks in.
I would then suggest looking at the latest tip in the no chat just tips page (preferably within a couple of hours of the latest post) and try and replicate it. Dont put down any money - its just useful because somebody has done the hard work already in finding a good match and you can see how it works in practice.
Download the matched spreadsheet from the newbie thread, look at the bookmaker screen and look at the betfair screen (the exchange where you make the second half of the match). Try and follow it through. When you get stuck ask!The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

But on a serious note...i just read the matched betting thread for the first time(never heard of it before i joined this forum)and my head started to hurt trying to unravel it...but im going to persevere and figure this all out:j (with or without cleaning anything:beer:0 -

One question regarding matched betting:
I'm surprised that the bookies aren't wise to it. They usually close most loopholes once they realise they are not making much out of it."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -

In theory yes.
But there are loads out there and new ones come along all the time.
And some bookmakers notice that you haven't used your account in a few monthsand give you a free bet to try and entice you back.
I'm only a few weeks into it but I think that there is enough out there to keep me going for many months yet.The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

Yes, the first time is always painful - but read the starter post a few times, ask any questions in the newbie thread, and eventually the penny will drop as it has for Mrs S.
NO ONE understands it straight away!.0 -

There's definitely £10,000 out there to be made right now. It'll take you at least a year to do all that and by then new ones will have come along as jessicamb says..0 -

True - but to the bookie its not a loophole because they are accepting it as a normal bet. The matching side of it doesnt mean that they are automatically losing anything.
The promotion is there to entice people - and just like the supermarkets there are people who will only buy what is on special offer.
It is perfectly reasonable for you to lose both your qualifying bet and free bet at the bookmakers thus making them money, whilst you still make money from the lay side. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

Once you start doing it you realise one very useful thing:
You often lose money at the bookies!
However you win a similar amount at the betting exchange.
The point is that from a bookie's point of view, if you lose your original £25 of your own money, and then also lose your £25 free bet, they're £25 up. You're also the best part of £25 up. It's a win win situation
Obviously sometimes you win at the bookie but I'm willing to bet(!) they make more than they lose.
