Evening, firstly huge hugs for Greenbee, I know you want you OH to wrap his arms around you but you'll just have to put up with our huggles for the mo. xx

Lady Liberty, thanks hun for letting me know re the Angry Birds latest episode. Mwaph x

Toots hun, you staying warm love? Hope so, and I hope the snow isn't restricting you too much. x

Well today I spoke to my Dad and insisted as did hubby that he turn his heating up as we'll pay his heating bills. We're also getting a tesco shop in for him, he has chronic MS, is fiercely independent and lives many miles away. He was qute happy so all is good.

Also had to bluddy rescue DD1 as all hull bus's were cancelled at 7ish, the bus station was shut and a hell of a lot of people were stranded. I transported DD1 plus 2 friends back to theirs after the help of mu hubby, some random stranger and DD2 digging and pushing my car out of the snow. I also transported a single lady who was trudging through the snow and two students who were struggling up the road...figured if we all pitched in to help those stranded...it may be a better world.

Other than that, not achieved too much, cleared kitchen then messed it up again...

We are snowed in, school will be closed tomorrow, nailed on, work too difficult to get to also. I managed to get some petrol and coal today and get a few bits and pieces in.

Other than that, its been a funny old week, very much a non starter with the snow, hoping very much we can get back to some normality soonish.

Pigpen Just a quick one before I go to bed, how easy is it to sew curtains? I have 10ft tall 6 roll breadth windows to cover, (IYSWIM)and although I've bought the material and thermal lining, it's not something I've done before; made dresses etc, and have a sewing machine, but never curtains. Are there any pitfalls/things I should be aware of before starting out? I'm making them because when MIL had similar ones made for the living room (when it was her flat) it cost her several thousand pounds (and that was in 1973 ) There are no curtains in the room I'm talking about and the draughts are horrendous- single glazing. So I'm trying to be moneysaving about it. I'd be grateful for any advice. x

Piece of cake.. honestly.. length you want curtain.. plus 6-8 inches at the top and an extra 8-10 inches at the bottom for hems.

Side seams I usually just fold in an inch and sew straight up

fold 3-4 inches then 3-4 inches at top so the cut edge is firmly covered.. same at bottom but 4-5 inches folded.. heavier fabric may need less of a hem..

Add header tape so the top of the tape is about 1-2 inches from the top of the curtain and sew in place. I have a 10ft bay window and in 2 weeks of evenings made 4 curtains and 4 linings..

    More presents ordered.

DH just checked and the wheel has come back into stock at a store near here. He has reserved it so I'll be heading there first thing tomorrow. Guessing it was a reservation that was not collected and put back into stock.

Off to set the WM and then to bed. I didn't realise the time - sat here with a blanket round me as I'm cold but now realise that the heat would have gone off a while ago.

    Morning all,

There is some little angels here i see..

:ATriker:A - rescuing randoms in the snow and helping your Dad like that
:ADippy:A - shopping for practically a whole street

It is so very heartwarming to read about your actions, it really does give me a warm feeling that such kind people still exist in society.

Greenbee - Your in my thoughts hun, I hope your OH gets back as soon as he is able to and in one piece. I would be so frustrated in the same situation and tbh I think with all things considered your dealing with it well. I hope the tests give you the answer which is right for you both at this time, I am sure whatever happens it will be just fine.

I am not a religious person as such but I believe that out higher power/god/whatever will never send us more than we are capable of dealing with.

Apologies for my blunt little post last night but things were a bit upside down here (head wise) but I won't bore you with my whinging details.

I did however, learn to make mums christmas puddings, which was so simple and smelt sooo good. A wonderful festive aroma and with the snow falling outside was very nice.

Had a chat with my friend who I thought was coming this weekend and fortunately I had got mixed up and he is coming next weekend, phew, should be better driving conditions by then. We were chatting about gifts he has got for his three children and then he announced he will be bringing mine too. I tbh had not thought about buying one so told him and offered to do some home baking for him, he lives alone and his idea of cooking is putting a meal in the microwave:rotfl:... so now I have to bake him a christmas cake:eek:. I have not baked one for years and I even ended up offering to decorate it etc so within the next seven days i have to buy the stuff, bake it and decorate it. Found a nice stir and simmer recipe on the good food website so am hoping that should be ok without maturing time.

    Ok listy time..
