Oh, and what can I clean a rug with - my Mr T (the only shop I can get to besides a tiny co-op) hasn't got ANY carpet-cleaning type stuff, so what would you recommend? Washing powder?

I smiled when I read you had heeled in plants today. I ordered 150 free bulbs from Suttons and the day they arrived we had snow on the ground.
I still have about 50 tulips left to plant...

Just a quickie to say all my family are home safe. Thanks for your thoughts. Must go and feed them.
    Hope they're all OK.

Hellyboo - last winter I had a dripping tap and the waste pipe from the basin froze. Tip salt down it if you have some and leave it to drain. Make sure that you turn all taps off properly so that drips don't freeze. If you don't have salt, then hot water. Whatever you do, make sure you thaw it out slowly and check for leaks.

I'm feeling sick and grotty today. OH came with me to drop off my car for its service, then brought me home and made lunch while I did my online presentation. I don't think I'll be going to Wales tonight (I wish it would snow heavily somewhere between here and Cardiff or Swansea, or the trains would be disrupted so I didn't feel so pathetic about cancelling!) for tomorrow's meetings as all I want to do is go to bed and sleep :(

The house WAS lovely and clean and tidy... but the kitchen is now a bombsite (I need to empty the DW so I can clear the cake-making debris from the kitchen) and the hall is full of stuff from the boot of my car. On the plus side, if I don't go to wales tomorrow, I can get ahead on some flying, and possibly even some work!

Hope you start to feel better soon hex

Jo-jo I am so glad your daughter made it home to you. I was reading through last night and really felt for you both. It reminded me of my DH being sent home by his secondary school in the middle of the Handsworth riots as it was deemed unsafe to have the school open, the council also stopped the buses leaving all the children stranded, many like DH having to walk a long way home through areas where no-one was safe to be. I will catch up with all of today's thread in the evening so if you have already posted earlier, I hope you gave the school hell.

    afternoon evryone

we have had further fresh snow overnight and this morning!

ajmoney I hope you got back safely - I am thinking you might well be stuck on route - hope not. (((hugs)))

Thanks guys, it was a long day yesterday. Left the house at 6.15, we got to our destination in 4 hours. The funeral was a lovely send off for the family, had my bottom lip going! We got back ok too but I was working last night too, out on parade in the snow/blizzards in Edinburgh! I finally got home at midnight.

For those of you in the counties north of mine, your councils seem to be doing a good job. We didn't have any problems on the M90, or roads around Dundee and Aberdeen. Once you get back into Fife the problems start. They are only gritting the main routes as there aren't many buses running, none here. If you are venturing out reconsider coming south of Kinross, from there it is rubbish. The forth road bridge was shut this morning, I think our bus might have been one of the last vehiclesto get over last night.

Hugs to all in need xx

How did you get on PenPen?

I cleared and swept the conservatory floor. Discovered the cat had been weeing in the corner and as it's a stone floor it's sunk in  vinegar job I presume? I know not to use detergent as it makes ammonia which will encourage the cat to keep going back. I don't care how cold it is, he's going out at night from now on...

Baby grumbling but will see how much of the list I can get done before 4 when he's due a feed.

Greenbee~~you would be IMO very silly to set out for Wales tomorrw, you are grounded. Listening to the News the trains in parts of the country are going no where, the roads are still back.

I have a trip to Norfolk planned for Saturday, step mother has been on the phone fussing, (but she does care) seems they have very little snow but a biting very cold North sea wind blowing in, so I am going to sort on on Saturday monring if I go or not, Sm did offer to buy a wreath and put it on my mother's grave if I don't go, which is gracious of her, as she pointed out she didn't want more graves yet in that Church yard to vist, normally I would be stubborn and go no matter what, but I must be getting old as common sense is coming to me!

So anyone that lives, Beds / Cambs / Suffolk,/ South Norfolk please supply me with a weather report for the main route / roads though that area.

    Flying wise
    Bins done
    Floors done
    Cat PUT outside!

    achOOO!

Well, managed to get Him Indoors to go to the high street to drop off an amazon sale and get the shopping. I forsee an evening of ironing, washing up, probably a hot bath followed by some brandy.

The weather for the weekend - well, here, at least - might be above freezing and misty so there should be people willing to leave the house for a Vintage Fair, especially as it's not enough days to Christmas...:D

Hope all are keeping well: didn't someone say we'd be able to cope better the next time we have snowy weather the last time we had snowy weather? :rotfl:
