So sorry to hear your sad news Chev. Be easy on yourself and take each day as it comes. Having lost both of my parents over the last few years I understand the numb feeling. XX

(((Greenval))), hope your eye feels better (maybe a patch might help in the short term? OH has a fetching collection of them as he has eye problems, would you like me to liberate one and send it to you? He wouldn't mind I'm sure, as he doesn't actually wear them anymore - thank goodness, I don't want to date a pirate!! ;) )

(((Chevalier))) - so sorry to hear of your loss

Keiss how about knitting some dish cloths or knitting/crochetting some wrist warmers, the latter are defintely the in thing at the moment and are very practical.

Greenval, Keiss, hope all is well - Pippi, you too. Your life looks so idyllic from the blog, tho lots of physical work, I guess on here we see the other part of the work thats needed to maintain your life. Hope the writing is going well.

KC you're always see the bigger picture and are so spot on with everything.

    Thank you for that.

Today - my work cheque cleared so I put 300 to one cc and 300 to the other - kept back 40 (which I'd paid £50 to my brother) so I'm -10 at the mo I think!

Banks are as tight as a ducks bottom - but OK - both CC's are near limit - but I'm ploughing money when I can. Freezer surfing for food - the real expense is petrol and I'm combining every journey I can.

More eggs sold, hens are bieng tricky as I've moved them and they are staging a protest to rival the student one in london.

All plants taken off from ebay - too much writing to do - my test run worked - website looks great - if a bit scary - window sills bulging with chillis, melons and physalis (cape gooseberries) - if I can pot them up I might try and grow them on for a car boot sale or give them to the chap at work for his plant sale

Worked late today til 9pm - had a bit of a break from 5.30-7 had tea out with OH and dd who went off fencing (rather than drive home and back to town again I stayed in and saved £5 in petrol) :D and I collected her at 9pm. Nice to work in the office when empty.

A bit of a chin wag with teaching guru - we've a class on sunday

*exciting news* is that during a strategic meeting for his dept - he pushed a little for my being trained for assessing - and for being supply for him when he's off or away (the phrase, we'd best not both fall under the same bus at the same time) was used in jest:rotfl:it probably doesn't mean anything in the way of money, but it gives me a tippytoe in the door of the hort dept at work, and from this chap I'll learn so much about growing up here. I've offered to do a voluntary day a week in his department and he's offered space, guidance/etc and if he can push for it at least my petrol repaid either in money or in kind

    :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

Progress! It will add to the patchwork lifestyle :D

Cheri I'm giving you a hug - I've lost me dad and my adopted mum and can't imagine how you've managed.

GV I hope you're OK, patchy eye or not

KK hugs to OH and hope you're hobbling along well

BB - lovely to see you and hope life/work/love balance gets better

    LT I hope you're a bit brighter today - ;)

Keiss - the dish cloth thing LT mentioned is a great one too - good luck with that

Cheery et al 2011 - hello I'm running through at speed too!!!!! I'm mouse biting all day long. half a discussion written today and half a lit review gone for proofing. Glad you finally got your parcel!

Marru - woo hoo I got a lovely parcel today which will be very handy when I eat my boily eggs - she sent me a box of campervan egg cups - how wonderful - thank you!!!

I'm glad you liked the blog all, VL - watch out for cheri - I think my rug might be half inched!!!
