128g!!! Be a bit more precise, woman :rotfl: thank you, thats exactly the kind of thing I need. My scales are very ancient, but if I point them at 130g, then no harm, no foul :o

That sounds really scary on the black ice - not much you can do about it, is there? It doesn't sound like there's a skill to driving on the black sort, you hit it and you skid - is the skill about waiting till you have traction again and then steering into it as per a usual skid? Gulp.

LT - I'm *sure* you've made the right decision on the windows. I may have to follow you next year. Our hands are here to be held :)

Often it takes a while for the scientist to be beaten out of me!

    cup cooking = lazy! - I like them and I'm very lazy!:rotfl:

Another one here volunteering for hand holding duties LT - I agree with what the others have said - asbolutely the right decision, best thing for you, your quality of life, and indeed for the property itself.

Pippi - scary stuff, so glad you're OK!

Well done on the cakes LT! :T £90 is great! :T And sounds like you had a lovely day with your nephew. We will indeed be here to hold your hang when you pay for the windows.

 pippi  How scary :( I *hate* driving in this weather - our car hasn't moved for over a week - hope it still can!

    Isn't 128g the same as 4oz?

i think 28g is 1oz but when we were at school we were just told to use 25g for ease.

I thought a cup was a cup was a cup (insert confused smiley). What I mean is as long as you use the same cup for the whole recipe it doesn't matter what cup size it is. Or does it......

The trip home sounded very scary Pippi, glad you and DD got back safe. Missing phone, if it is in the house could you try ringing it? Loving the blog but save reading for the weekends, the new title is lovely :D

LT - Sure it is the right decision on the windows but understand how scary it is when the numbers are going up not down. But this will save you money in the long run. Sorry about the sore throat, always happens to me if I go out with wet hair but. apparently, that is meant to be an old wives tale. You did brilliantly with your cake stall too :T

i'd heard that old wives tale as well but have always ignored it, but i'm struggling to believe that it can happen in a matter of hours.

gonna start playing with numbers again soon so can ring the windows man without going into full blown shock.

If the whole of the recipe is in cups, then it doesn't matter a jot, as it is the volume that everything revolves around. However, if it's a recipe with "static" ingredients (ie- 3 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 2 eggs ) then it DOES make a difference as then the relative volumes depending on the size of the cup will make a difference to how much of the static ingredients you need. Apologies if I have made things still more confusing!

  • Hey there - um cups a bit more precise, old fashioned measurement I think - I've always used them, think my grannie did - http://allrecipes.com//HowTo/cup-to-gram-conversions/Detail.aspx you have to be careful if you're using eggs etc - otherwise maty you're right - if its only portional non egg then its OK

Phone found - in bag (obviously a safe place - lol) - driving - bleurgh!

Blog - good lord I don't expect anyone to actually read it!! Nice that you do - but please don't be obliged or anything - its a technique to get me writing - which I love - but I don't want to burden anyone with having to read it...............x

    Uploading a dodgy winter photo!
