I feel as though the Ewbank sweeper has become a permanent attachment to my arm. I didn't know Border Collies had a 'double coat' until I got Max. Wiry on top and like down underneath. Now she's moulting !!!!!!!!!!! What's worse is she grooms herself like a cat but can't bring up fur balls . The result is lots of grooming and sweeping. 'How often do I need to do this ?' I asked the vet last year when we got to the intermittent throwing up stage, her not me. 'Oh probably only THREE times a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I've just bathed her which tends to help in the loosening fur dept.
Off to brush and sweep some more

We have a Henry, but I don't use him at all!!! I have a bad back so I am not allowed to do twisty things like hoovering and sweeping....what a shame :D :rotfl:.

I was told all this in 2000, so for Mothers' Day that year my two sons hoovered the house (aged 10 and 7) ...and have been doing it ever since!! At least they should be :o. DS1 was very good, but he's at Uni now so only does it once in a while when he is here. DS2 was much more reluctant, but he is getting better now! We have no carpet downstairs (laminate and vinyl), which does make things easier in some ways, DH does the odd sweeping up with a brush once in a while in between hooverings, much more energy efficient!!!. We have a white Golden Retriever, with particularly long hair...so there is alway hair rolling about though :rotfl:!

Right, must get back to outside, been moving a few things this morning. Starting to harden off a few more bits from the greenhouse.

Sorry Pippi, I won't mention the temps again. :o In my experience of growing up there, if it is misty in the morning, there's a chance that the sun will burn it off my lunchtime so there is a wonderful sunny afternoon, here's hoping!

As kids we always had to do our chores in the house or garden in the morning, then we would make ourselves a packed lunch and take the dogs along the beach for the rest of the day - 4 kids, 2 dogs...bliss!! Those were the days :) We were lucky as there was (and still is) 10 miles of sandy beach to the south of the house. Can't wait to get back up there this summer.

Enjoy your weekend everyone, whatever the weather.

and I have to use some gadget called a 'hoover' - wierd contraption - I think folk use them quite regularily but we do our bit for global warming here and minimise our use of this carbon guzzling beastie.

All this talk of hoovers..... Anyone remember Quentin Crisp? He said that if you didn't clean for 6 months it never got any worse!

He is wrong, the dust bunnies get bigger :(:rotfl:

You mean a 'hoover' actually does stuff??? It's not just somewhere for DS to hang his coat?
I take the view that if its downstairs I'll use it; but if he takes it upstairs to do his room, he can bring it back down and do the living room etc. Until then, I'm not going up to get it.;)

my hoove doesn't get used that often as it has this horrible habit of getting full up with horrible looking stuff!

Had a pretty expensive day today. Despite recovering our sofa's last year, the bleeping cats have scratched through the fabric again! so because Mr LT is not finding them comfortable we've been and bought some new furniture. They don't owe us anything as one is almost 9 years old and the other (from a charity shop) is probably a lot older than that. Will be listing them on freecycle when know stuff is arriving, as the sofa bed at least is worth passing along.

Hope the mist burned off for you Pippi and DD is home safely.

Maybe this will help preserve the new sofas? http://www.catscratching.com/ - sorry about all the declawing gumpf, think it's quite common in America but I am sure you would never consider it - however, the rest of the advice looks good :)

Yes, the mere thought of it turns my stomach! I didn't want you to think I was suggesting you may consider it :)

    Good luck :D
