Pipster - please clear your messages
Very sorry me dear - messages cleared!:j Hello!La escocesa I don't know about watering per se, but yes tea and tea leaves were often used to water plants in my house when I was a child....
pippi yeah on the patchwork income. good luck with the gardening jobs
chev
You're very right and yay to tea leaves - hello and thank you for all the goodlucks - not sorted yet - asked around £18-20 hour seems like the going rate for gardening work - why didn't I try this before???? Um, I'm a bit stupid. I'm so looking forward to being wet and muddy again.:rotfl:La_escocesa wrote: »Hiya pippi :hello: hi everyone
Good news about getting the hours you wanted :T Yay. :T
Do you mind if I ask you a v basic question about my spider plant???
I'm not v experienced with plants and just don't seem to be doing this little cutting I got any good. At first I got loads of little black flies flying around it, which I heard was because of over-watering it. ...then I maybe didn't water it enough and now sometimes when I do water it the water just kind of sits on top of the soil for a bit and doesn't even soak in/through to the drainer tray. And the leaves look really dull.Surely this is not difficult
How often should I be watering it?! It's on my desk at work and the office is usually 29 deg C (no one seems to be able to fix the air con and the sun shines in so potentially a greenhouse!)... Any ideas?
Also, someone told me that putting used tea leaves on the soil is good for plants! Can this be true?!?! I know tea does me some good so kinda makes sense...:rotfl:
Sending you a big hug from Sheffers :grouphug:

OK La E - no such thing as a silly question - sounds like you've got scarid fly - best course of action - dump the compost and clean the pot.
Put the cutting in a glass of water for a couple days til the flys booger off.
Repot plant new compost - don't water too much, they like a damp environment - the problem is the compost of your cutting had scarid fly eggs in it - dunno how - thats not important - get rid compost - wait about a week (plant carefully in water) - a coldish window sill is good. Then when all little blighters gone - repot.
Give it a while before you chuck tea bags on it though - its a baby after all - not very caffine friendly.hope that helps
VL I've pm'd you and hedge planting - good activity for health! KK its how I keep the wrinkles away! xx
Keiss hugs for the ailments - omg to Ds getting so big! All package finally done - will mail tomorrow - put in a couple of wee extra delightful bits.

Hi Pippi
Good to have you back and sounding brighter :T
I think the way you answer gardening type questions is brilliant, even I understand what you are saying and could follow the instructions you gave La E and I am a complete numpty with stuff that grows.
Fabby news on the contract and the gardening jobs sound even more exciting. All you need is for people to talk about what a great job you have done and more work will head your way - word of mouth beats any advertising.
Yay to more patchwork income :T:T:T:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

Truth be told - - I'm a bit heavy hearted - we lost a dear friend, and thats been really hard - but as much as I'm weary and so sad - but I think gripping life by the throat is in order to honour her. An amazing lady.

So sorry about your news Pippi and I think you are wonderful to be turning it into something positive. I'm sure that's what she would have wanted. Dodgy hug to you all :grouphug:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

How lovely is that bit in bold :T:T:T:
It is always sad to lose someone you hold dear, but knowing that they have given you the love and strength to go out there and get what you want from life is huge.
Time for dodgy hugs me thinks!
