  • Glad the travels are all going well!
  • Hope things are going well with you Pippi and you're enjoying your visiting and socialising.

Another one here vouching for the general helpfullness of railway people when there are delays. A few years ago we were heading to the Western Isles via sleeper to Inverness, then train across from there to Kyle of Lochalsh....except the sleeper was delayed leaving the London end by an hour...! It made up some of the time, but we missed the Kyle connection by about 20 minutes....with the next one of the three trains a day getting across too late to get our ferry connection further on. A quick chat with the steward on the train, followed by a bit of a conflab in the Station Manager's office, and they had organised a cab to take us all the way across - we were seriously impressed - it was all done without a murmour of complaint, but apology for the problems and delays.

Pippi - for train tickets in future try booking through the TransPennineExpress site - the same as Trainline but you save the booking fee. They don't charge fees for paying by Credit Card either which is handy. Cashback through TBC too.

Morning all, yay, it's Friday and I'm working from home (again) today :) It should be a nice quiet day work-wise, which is good as a chum came over with a bottle of vodka last night.....

I have an exciting update.....MrA has suggested that we take DD out for a bike ride on Saturday, and DD is ultra keen!! I'm very touched that he's been thinking about a fun, informal way to meet DD. Hope he'll be well tomorrow, you never can tell.....thank goodness he's soooo lovely that the good days make the disappointments/postponing pale into insignificance :)

Now to get my bike out of the shed and dust off the cobwebs.....

I *think* you are travelling home today Pippi, if so travel safe. Just heard that you should be able to see the Northern Lights tonight :)

KK - The bike ride sounds lovely - Is this the 1st meeting?

Yes, it is the first meeting - we're all very excited :)
  • KK what a fab idea - sort of a nice family thing to do without the pressure of all going somewhere to eat, or the cinema, which is a bit more *serious* IYKWIM - hoope all goes well with it, although considering all parties sound madly enthusiastic for it, I can't imagine why it wouldn't! :D

    Happy travelling Pips!
