Karmacat A question, Pippi - you know your pancakes / bannocks? Can you make enough mix to keep till the next day?

    :rotfl:

    Elidee - tee hee

Very cool sparkles - the garden thats the place outside the window which is in a hurricane at the moment right???? I can only look and sigh - bah!

Envy of garden action today - not a hope here - indoor gardening being done though................:) many houseplants to take cuttings of - and sell in the land of virutal gardening! I'm bestowing the merits of spider plants for healthy air/office work - they are brilliant plants for that.

I've done some snoopy ebaying for seeds to see what folk send - mine are more than delightful! And, I'm happy to work out costings now.

Oh and i downloaded the ipad thingmy for ebay - which is brilliant - at a glance I can see whats sold and a nifty postage adder upper - OK I can do it online but you know what lifes too short - I can just plonk in the wieght and hey presto I get my rate :)

    Technology eh.

    :)

I'm glad looking at ebay has given you the confidence that your seeds can work. And how great is that for the ipad thingummy? If ebay is going to become a bigger piece of the patchwork income, using it needs to suit you as much as possible - more power to your elbow/fingertip :)

    Hya all..oooh bere bannocks...scrummy!!!

My sister sometimes makes them, but I remember those that my great-uncle uncle made in his bakers-shop in Kirkwall (many eons ago). I have had a go at making my own, and who knows, I may pick up some bere meal when I am in Orkney this summer ;);)(That's if me and DS2 are back to eating grains by then :o)

Sorry, but more gardening talk coming up (apologies to those with carp weather today)!

So, a lovely and sunny day, with all the birds singing their hearts out. A thrush has moved into the area the past week, and his singing is absolutely amazing!!

The snowdrops, winter aconites and helebores are all flowering wonderfully, I am going to clear away some of the winter detritis so we can see them better. Then there are the weeds...I hate chickweed

I am going to get DH and DS to move a few loads of rubbish stuff about so the place looks a bit more cared for. Once one of the raised veg beds is fully weeded, then a thick layer of HM compost can go on top. At the moment this wonderfull stuff is piled up on two other veg-beds as we had to empty one of the compost bins in November as it was full and we had loads of stuff to go in. It's a never-ending process, and I love it! Spring is nearly here, she whispers!!!

Instead of coming in this afternoon to watch the rugger, I may well listen to the radio while I sow some seeds...ooh, I like the sound of that! After all, Scotland's kick-off isn't until 5, so I'll be coming in then (I haven't quite perfected the art of gardening in the dark!) :o

    Have a great weekend everyone.

  • Hi all
Gosh you all sound industrious .
I got some more fruit canes in AL*I during the week. Two different Rasberries and a Gooseberry. £1.99 for all three. I don't actually like Gooseberries but my Dad loves them and it's not something you often see in shops.
I want to go and play in the garden but probably best not until the stitches come out on Monday. I've sort of progressed, the swelling round my eyes has gone down and my forehead is bright red where I've had a reaction to the Iodine. Best to stay in and not frighten the neighbours. I've just had a moment of weakness and ordered 10 bare root DOUBLE Hellebores from QVC £10 and coppers but the shade side of the garden needs something.
The two large half broken branches on the neighbours Scotch Pine are still hanging in a threatening manner, but I've rung the Housing Association that own the properties and they are supposed to be 'sending a man round' Watch this space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've decided to risk it and put out the washing. The patio seems to be drying a little bit, it's a bit chilly but it'll dry better indoors if it's been outside.

    Hi Fay,

It's a very very long time since I posted but I do lurk occasionally, to see what you're up to. Looks like you're doing OK.

A lot has happened to me in the last 12 months, which I won't bore you with, but suffice to say, belated mid-life crisis has been and gone, I left the Army in Apr 10 and now I'm working from home covering a region in the north of England for Tesco, doing the Environmental Health, heath and safety and trading standards bit for them. It's a job share so I only work 2.5 days per week and with my pension we are as well off as before. We bought, and then sold, a motorhome. We plan to buy another some time soon but no rush. Life is good; hope all is well with you too. Best wishes

    MM
