No point sweeping leaves up in this weather Kittikins! I was going to go out and collect the rubbish that's blown into the garden, but decided not to bother for the same reason...

(and yes, what has happened to the tunnel pippi?? Hope you can still have it!)
  • Hee hee

I still have the tunnel enroute

but I don't want to put it up until I'm done this pesky writing

a, I will end up in it rather than doing work
b, I want to enjoy putting it up and if I have to try and juggle all of that and this writing at the moment I think my head will explode.

It should be fun - if I can get it along and put up later after end of April - I'll still be happy :)

More about my own shoddy time management than actually anything else.

If I get the tunnel up - I'm scared I wont bother finishing and that wouldn't be good.

    :)

Toast and pate for lunch nom nom

Darwin is being a cutsie and driving perfectly (blasted vehicle)
Been on the beach in the sunshine with DD and peedie
6 eggs today so far :)

    Meal plan done

steak and ale stew - yorkie and french tatties
    Lasagne
    Bacon and tomato pasta
    Bitsa night
    Caggabe and tatties - colcannan
    fish one night

    :)

L I'll put up a list :) means opening the seed box and that could be dangerous!
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

  • I've counted my seed packets - um, 102, 103, 104 - then I stopped

Thats not counting other types of things I'm going to grow - whoops!

    I'll put a list up somewhere L :)

I made a website but have no idea how to work it yet!!

  • Hello!

Pippi I read (in the 'square foot gardening' book I think) that instead of pulling carrots to thin them you can snip off the ones you don't want with scissors, then carrot fly are not attracted so much. Intend to try that - when I can get more than 3 carrot seedlings to germinate in the first place!

Money/ work-wise, I know writing is not your favourite thing so this may be a silly suggestion, but we all agree you write well amd I'm sure you have read enough research papers in your time, I wondered if you could look for editing work like I am doing? It's easier than dealing with your own writing and if you have a good internet connection you can do it anywhere. If interested send me a PM and I'll see if I can send any useful pointers or links etc.

Wow! Marriage after 6 months, that's a whirlwind romance, hope they're still blissfully happy however many years later :):)

my parents will be celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary this year, god willing. It's not been an easy marriage as a couple of years in Dad broke his back and was never able to work properly again, and has had more than his fair share of illnesses but he is the best dad in the world.
In fact within the next week or so we will be getting together as a family and discussing the ways we can help my mum in caring for him, and indeed emergency care incase anything happens to my mum or she goes off on holiday. Truthfully he doesn't expect anything from us as we all work, but we'll help as much as we can because he deserves it.

Thank you Trog - much easier to edit other peoples work than your own I think!! I love writing - I don't like my current academic stuff.

I will give you a PM.

Interesting stuff about the carrots I'm going to try that one thank you! - I did a broadcast sow - which made them all over the place on purpose to get the most out of the space (in a 1/2 metre raised bed) got about 4kg carrots I think.

I'm very chuffed with myself - I've only got 4 types of carrots to grow (purple, rainbow, yello and orange) :) I'll get going on selling some seed too :) can't sell those in plugs :)

Another thing I learned up here is that alot of folk do carrots in a raised bed - ie on a table etc - or on stilts - the theory is that carrot fly cannot fly about 18-24" - therefore raising a box up gets rid of the problem. The old guy that came into work as our 'specialist grower' explained it all - makes sense now why I've often seen carrots growing in deep boxes on tables/windowsills etc here - hadn't a clue why it was happenning!!

hi everyone, yesterday i had some new arrivals come home with us
Red Camellia which OH dropped and broke the flower bud off (oh well) which is my valentines pressy
    2 x raspberry cane
    2 x redcurrent cane
    2 x blackcurrent cane
Last 6 things were bare root stock and in a pack with one of each for £2.49 in Aldi. I've planted them in large tubs so when they're happy and the weather evens out a bit they can go up the allotment.

Just cooking lamb shanks, roasted roots and veggies for tea then we're heading off to the cinema to see something (can't remember what though) with our Tesco's cinema tickets.

today we've also sorted out the kitchen and rearranged most of the cupboards. Needless to say we shouldn't need to go shopping for more than just bread or fruit for the rest of the month. 15 cans of tomatoes anyone?

Sounds wise re the polytunnel pippi, I know full well that I got on an awful lot better once I got rid of everything other than work :o And april is soon enough! :j :j :j

Just wrapped your parcel - rather unsuccesfully because two of the things I was going to send you have been lost in the palace renovations :o (I would wait til I found them, but it's waited long enough - anyway, this way you get TWO parcels, and that's always more exciting! :T :T). Oh, and the other thing I had to send you was, er, a packet of seeds, but I see you already have 104 packets, so I might not bother :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (they've been misplaced too!) :D

Wow LT, that sounds so lovely and right, how families should be :) My mum had a dad like yours, and so I can see that non-biological dads can be far, far better than the one who was there at the conception.....Hope you manage to work out a good support system/care plan for your parents

:D Um I have never ever told anyone I had enough seeds - and of course I wouldn't harrange you for any more - but imagine my seeds as cups of tea. Do you EVER have enough cups of tea Dr Daffs????

    I never have enough seeds.:rotfl:

The cunning little seed and potential seedling list is Here

Luceille and BY the way anyone interested - this is my seed list so far - not comprehensive by any means - I'm going to sell small quantities of seeds (as my research has shown me often people only want 5/10/1/50 of any type of seed) and I have packets etc to send seed on and can be helpful that way. I can even give constructions if required.

I'm also going to be selling little plants imagine the size of an tiny expresso cup - thats my jiffy mini-pot size (grown to 4-6 leaves) - selling in jiffy 7 coir baby plant pots to grow on wrapped in full recycled packaging :) (e.g. cornflake boxes and old bubble wrap etc)

How does that sound - like that?
