I don't know, I've worked under a few chefs who make Gordon look like a kitten in comparison! :rotfl:
I would find it hard to choose between Gordon and the Hairy Bikers.

lol, it does seem to be a trait of the job with some people. I remember when my eldest girl was 17, her first job was a waitress to help fund her college course etc. and I recall picking her up after her first night and she was in tears because the 'chef' shouted abuse her way at literally everything she did wrong (according to his professional level).

I was raised to treat people as I would like to be treated and I've done the same with my kids, so you can imagine I wasn't that happy lol, I had few choice words with him over that :D, although the old saying 'if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen' does come to mind, she was my little girl and her first experience of working, obviously not the best pin money job to go for.

Rick Stein for me, Although he's predominately seafood etc.

Gordon Ramsay is my least favourite, why he thinks cursing and swearing at kitchen staff is 'trendy' and acceptable is beyond me. If anyone else treated their staff like that in any other job, they would be in court before their feet could touch the ground, and it's not simply a case of 'that's what to expect working in a kitchen' at all.
I'm guesssing you've never read any of the information online that says that Gordon Ramsay actually has one of the longest staff retention rates in the UK for kitchen staff. You've obviously just judged him on his television persona! How ignorant!

I was going to vote for Delia as she really taught me all I know (and I now teach cooking), but I feel she has sold out a bit recently with her last series.

It was neck and neck between Keith Floyd and Hugh FW, but I felt that Keith introduced me (and probably huge numbers more) to Thai food with his series a few years back so that swung it for me as I now adore Thai food.

I've met James Martin and he is a nice guy, but really knows he is 'adored' and laps it up from all those who want to swoon at his feet! His girlfriend is also very lovely (and VERY pretty!)

Gary Rhodes has to be one of my favourites. He comes over as a true gentleman. I remember watching him when he was new on telly and he was always polite to his assistant; which was rare in those days.

I know, like 99.9% of the population I suppose... I guess I made the same fatal error about Hitler, didn't read too much in to him, just seen the movies, silly me.

I really struggled to choose between HFW & Rick Stein - but went for HFW in the end as more than anyone else he's really changed the way we eat and think about food. Thanks Hugh!

"It's just that she's so deliciously plummy. The cool, collected kitchen, the blush of peachy V at her decolletage, the milky British sunlight setting her wicked self aglow as she artfully creates gastronomic warfare. She's prim and proper and "let's all have a jolly nice afternoon playing hockey" while simultaneously undressing celery sticks with her eyes. It's like being tied up with leather straps and flogged by Enid Blyton.”

Taken from a review of her show here: http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2008/01/23/1201024972199.html - well worth reading the whole article - one of the funniest things I've read this year :-)
