PP Gas meter

Can anyone help please,
My gas meter has the word "battery" showing, is this a problem?

Phone your supplier and get them to come and change the battery.

They are coming out in the morning to do it (phew) dont want to lose my gas
when theres 4 inches of snow outside...thanx for the info.

well, gas man has just been, he says he cant do anything because we still have gas..

The battery could last a good few weeks after the message appears. The next step is the word FAIL which means you are very close to running out, then the screen goes blank - you've run out.
Who is your supplier? They should be able to book a job even though there is credit on the meter, although it's a different job to if you have run out.

That is total nonsense. You've informed your supplier the battery is low and they've sent someone out that has a job to change it. This is just total lazyness on the part of the engineer.

Phone back and complain. Your battery will not last very long at all in this weather as the cold drains it very quickly. When the battery dies and the screen says "FAIL" or is just blank your gas will be cut off and you could wait hours if not days in some areas to have another engineer visit. The whole reason for the low battery symbol is to prevent this sort of occurence.

thanx for the info gman, i thought it was nonsense as well, he did make a point of telling us how long
it had taken him to get here (we now have about 7 inches of snow), think i`ll have to make another phone call.

They are going to send someone out on Monday now, and apparently she will add a note about the engineer, so they know what he didnt do.

anybody can interpret this message?
There was gas this morning and we had £0.70 credit and i put in another £20 but there is no gas in the flat and the gas meter is saying "OFF" error message!!!!!
