Gatwick airport to London Euston?

Hi everyone. I'm coming back to the big chill for Xmas in around 3 weeks time.
I'm trying to find the cheapest route, before all the prices go up (again). I need to get from Stanstead to Euston (to catch another train).
Assuming my flight is on time I have 2 hours to do it in (or 3 if necessary). Can anyone suggest the cheapest way of doing this, and the route, and also if it's possible to make it in 2 hours (no hold baggage).
Thanks for any help, and MERRY CHRISTMAS! LOL>

It depends what time of day you'll be travelling but, assuming it's after 9.30am you might be best getting a standard single to East Croydon (ie not on Gatwick Express), getting off then buying an off-peak, all zones travel card which will cover you for the rest of the rail journey into London and also the tube to Euston.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -

Assuming my flight is on time I have just under 2 hours to do it in. Can anyone suggest the cheapest way of doing this. An initial browse of thetrainline.com is showing a single from Gatwick to Euston as somewhere around £25, Holy crap!!! Is it really that expensive??? (as my advance single all the way up North only costs that much). Or is there another way?
Thanks for any help, and MERRY CHRISTMAS! LOL>
2 hours is pushing it - I wouldn't be at all confident of making it, though it's not impossible
That £25 is the MOST expensive ticket available - it's a walk on first class single using the Gatwick Express.
For the cheapest tickets go to http://www.southernrailway.com/ - tickets to London Victoria start at £3.75. (The underground is £4.)
No particular hurry - those tickets don't sell out that quick
It's possible that you would have done better still by booking an advance ticket from Gatwick to your northern destination - they do exist.0 -
Gatwick to East Croydon £5
Off peak all zones travel card £7.50 (peak £14.80)Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Better still an off peak all zones travelcard from Gatwick - no getting off at East Croydon when you are in a hurry and costs £12.70 (£11.00 on FCC, but a more awkward cross London journey)0 -
The Southern site plus using an Oyster card to get from Victoria to Euston is the cheapest option as a previous poster has pointed out. However the £3.75 fare is only valid on the chosen train, so there could be a problem if your flight is delayed. A more flexible alternative is a £8.90 cheap day single from Gatwick to St Pancras and a short walk to Euston.
PS Don't use the trainline. The railway company booking sites are far better as they do not charge fees.0 -

But then Infidel would miss out on the delights that East Croydon has to offer
Yep, you're right, much better idea!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Huh?
FCC would not be more complicated as you could get the former Thameslink service from Gatwick direct to St Pancras then if you only have a few bags get a number 59 (I think it is) bus to Euston.
Its only a bout a 10 minute walk ST Pancras to Euston anyway, straight along the Euston Road.Signaller, author, father, carer.0 -

Normally I'd agree - but all takes time if (as OP is) you are pushed for time.
Perhaps awkward would have been a better word0 -
If I was OP I'd either get a later train from Euston or see if he can fly from Gatwick to somewhere nearer home.0
-
I would not say that it is any more awkward than voa Victoria as the Underground access is using fixed steps from street level to the ticket barriers.
There are 4 options if you want to use a train from Gatwick
Southern Train to Victoria; Underground to Euston
No step free access from Victoria mainline concourse to Victoria Underground but step free access at all other junctures. Southern Train approx 30 minutes, LUL (ticket barrier to ticket barrier) approx 20 minutes.
Southern Train to Victoria; Number 73 bus to Euston
Fully step free acess but bus takes about 30-40 minutes usually (IIRC)
FCC Train to St Pancras; Number 59 (might be 159) bus to Euston.
Step Free access throughout. 40 minutes Gatwick to ST Pancras, few minutes bus to Euston (or about a 10 minute walk)
FCC Train to St Pancras; 1 Stop on the Tube.
Step free access throughout.
*** Just a thought ***
What time are you using at Gatwick? If you are talking landing time have you factored in the time required to colect luggage, get through passport control and customs, etc, etc? You will be cutting it VERY fine...Signaller, author, father, carer.0
