"Just get a job" advice

did i !!!!!!y :rotfl:
i got a friend who is high up in HR and deals with all their hiring and fireing, so she "tweaked it" she also helps with the covering letters and she took a copy to file at her place for if anything comes up
Judging by the extorniate amount this particular company are willing to charge, she should go into that line of business and make a killing0 -
webitha,
I totally agree with you here. It IS hard to get a job now. I have tried EVERYWHERE for EVERY job I can do, but all I get - time and time again - is either a total snub or a soul-destroying rejection letter.
I am feeling so bad now that I am beginning to fear that I will never get a job in the UK ever. It is so depressing and demoralising.
And it goes without saying that Christmas is the WORST time to be out of work.i quite agree person one, it is NOT that easy to get a job
i have been hunting for 8 months nowand have applied for any job for cleaner to care assistant to shop manager, i have applied for jobs that i am qualified and thiose i am not, ive gone for shift/day/evening/partime, and nothing..nada
so far i have applied for over 100 jobs and sent 3 off thisweek
i have had my CV tweaked by a profeesional had interview techniques and the sreason im still unemployed is because there are just too many people going for them
one job i called for feedback stated tha they had over 600 applications for 1 job :eek:
its an employers market out there and they can afford to be fussy0 -
Im not being picky but my OH just walked into a job at a large clothes shop who claim to have real trouble getting staff for part time roles.
There have been alot of seasonal jobs around this month and while most may have come and gone now Im sure two part time jobs covering full time hours is better than no job at all.
Im not saying those who have not found anything yet are to blame for not finding anythign yet, god forbid we actually tell someone to get off there !!!! for there money, but there are still jobs out there for people who will do what thjey would normally concider 'beneath' them.
Ive said it before and Ill say it again, its easier to find a job when you already have one!!
GOne day some company will do what they say they will do and charge a fair charge.:T
Not doing the opposite of that which they promise and charge you a fortune for the privileged.
Or maybe not:mad:0 -

From a financial aspect that is true but it must also be galling when you hear people mention that their office/place of work is closing for two weeks, that's great for them as they are getting paid for enjoying Christmas at home.0 -

There are jobs for some people, there physically aren't enough for every job seeker in the country to get one. One person being able to get a job at a time of high unemployment does not mean everyone can.
I'm lucky, I managed to convince my employer that I wanted to take a 'beneath me' job (I don't actually think it is) because I wanted a career change and to start at the bottom.
But how many people come on here worried that their degrees and experience are counted against them for lower paid jobs? How many employers do we see saying they wouldn't hire graduates or well qualified people for menial jobs because they 'know' they'll leave if they get a better offer?0 -
I have been made redundant 3 times now - was working two part time jobs (out at 730am and home usually about 11pm) - it took me nearly 12 months to get a job and I as a lot on this forum applied for anything and also scoured the high streets - when unemployed I took this time as looking for a job as fulltime work with little to no success.
Now as i approach redundancy for the third time I have applied for 80+ jobs - 1 interview 1 rejection letter, I blame no-one but individual cases are personal to themselves and widescape statements don't fit everyones situation.
I personally will work anywhere with any hours - if you know of anything going please feel free to PM me!You cant take the trousers off an elephant!0 -

I think it's the easiest answer anyone can give to anyone looking for a job, looking for a job is probably the easiest part of gaining employment but actually getting the job is the hardest part, comments like should be treated with the contempt it deserves.0

But that isn't "luck". You used your powers of communication and persuasion to convince an employer that you were suitable for the job. "Luck" doesn't come into it.0 -

I think it does, I'm lucky that I don't get nervous in interviews, I'm lucky that I have those communication skills in the first place. There's an element of luck in almost every part of life.0
