Thank you for the lecture. YOU run a thread which becomes hijacked for hours at an end by infantile, cat-calling types and see whether you can keep your cool.

If you have any other comments to make, I'd ask you to confine them to the topic, as I've been TRYING to do under huge provocation.

Before you had a pop at me for being foreign, there was a discussion going on about whether it was morally objectionable to boycott a country, a large number of whose population would not support the actions of its government.

Presumably the main provocation is your thread being 'hijacked' by foreigners?

Yet you run a PC, which IBM contributed an enormous amount of research to, and no doubt use Microsoft Windows, which is based on (or was based on) MS-DOS, which was purchased from IBM and relabelled Microsoft.

So if you're going to boycott something, do it correctly or don't do it at all.........

Wow, can you see over my shoulder? I could just as easily be accessing this website from an Apple Mac, or on a PC running Linux. Oh, and the current release of Windows is not related to MS-DOS in any shape or form

    ...... Q.e.d.

    You have demonstrated what exactly?

It is you that is too bloody thick to engage in any debate where people post an opposing view to yourself!

If you post a view on an open forum, you must accept that it is likely to be questioned by people with a different view to yourself.

Rather than trying to justify your views when questioned on them you end up resorting to calling other people childish; being sarcastic and unpleasant; calling us trolls; questioning our personal morality; let alone accusing other people of being foreigners, hence their views not counting.

I am absolutely disgusted by your assumptions about jmarko's name!

You have taken Scandinavians as a whole as responsible for whaling. Is this not like lumping Canada and Mexico into any objections to the US?

It is downright racist to say (or imply) that all Scandinavians are responsible for whaling.

What reason do you have for boycotting Ikea, a Swedish company, in response to Norway's whaling policy?!

I still haven't had an answer to my question asking which countries in the world you have no objection to. I would very much like to know because I believe there is not a single country in the world with a perfect ethical record.

Yes, there are some light-hearted remarks around these threads. It's the nature of the internet, we are not debating in a formal setting, so what is the problem with this?

We have highlighted some pretty huge flaws in your idea. You have taken offence to anyone questioning your logic and accused anyone who does so of being stupid. This is not a fair and rational debate, you have decided you are right, and anyone who questions you to be not worth listening to.

IBM made the processors used in Macs prior to Intel's involvement.

Linus Torvalds is Scandinavian, therefore you must boycott Linux! ;)

Thank you so much for that post! But I am afraid that you have left yourself wide open for severe heckling! It seems that if one tries to say anything that may upset the fuhrer-istic, one tends to be described as infantile, cat-calling trolls just out of kindergarten.

I've tried to make perfectly valid points, even helped out and made suggestions in favour of the OP, and I am more than happy to admit that I have tried my best to lighten things up with a bit of humour now and then, and even self-criticism. The OP chose to respond by insulting and thanking me in the same breath.

Check back along the thread and see what I've had to endure.

You have obviously posted a highly contentious issue on an open forum. Of course you have to endure people questioning it!!!

Ah well, Wales isn't a great loss anyway :D
  • I remember at university, the islamist decided that israel was an apartide state and wanted to close down our jewish society. Ha, they lost. Can't say I noticed it last time I visited, the society is very mixed over there. Shame the guild shop decided to ban all produce from israel - what if someone had wanted some dead sea salt soap?

Today, i will be boycotting Welsh people. I hope David on our team doesn't get upset about me ignoring him
