I'm home 90% of the time, so I have a great relationship with the postie and couriers to my house and neighbourhood. I am happy for them to leave stuff in our secret hiding places (under empty recycling boxes/in the kids playhouse etc) . It saves me time in having to wait in another day for my parcel or having to fetch it from their sorting office. If something needs a signature and they are able to post it through the door when I'm not in- Great!!
Okay some posties/delievery men are not up to scratch, but my dealings have always been fantastic- then again we live in a safe area, so i know me stuff would never get nicked.

My sister to be ordered our bridemaids dresses from Debenhams recently, had a note through the door from a lady that they had been left with her - 50 houses away! Not only that, when she went to pick them up the lady told her they have been left in the green recycling bin which was out as it was collection day!!

It hadn't been signed for either so it was lucky the woman was honest otherwise she could have had £600 worth of dresses for nothing and we would have had a lot of arguing with debenhams!

Wonder how some of the delivery people manage to get out of bed in the morning.....
  • So.. I was waiting for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood which I ordered from play.com and I received a card from Home Delivery Network saying that a parcel was left "in bush by drainpipe." Nope, nothing there when checked. The card was also left on the buzzer (block of flats) and not even posted through the door. The area is always busy with people walking through and kids running around. It could have been considered a safe place, but with the card left out saying exactly where it was! Well.. Need I say more.

I've spoken to play.com who are adamant that this was sent by Royal Mail and I've been having a hard time convincing them that the card was left by HDN - my friend had the same problem with them leaving it on his windowsill. Thankfully his was still there. I've also called HDN who could only apologise and repeat that it was left in the 'safe place'. They're apparently going to discuss this with the driver, but say it's not their responsibility - it's play.com.

No-one wants to take any blame, or help me. Play.com keep giving me the "wait 21 days" lecture and HDN just don't seem to care.

I'm left without the item I ordered and feel pretty disappointed. Where do I stand, or do I just have to ride it out?

    Bad times.

    Thanks guys.

If you ride it out for the 21 days play will send you a new game, just hope it's not the same muppet who delivered it the first time.
  • i came home from dropping my little one off at school to see 2 huges cases of wine on next door neighbours doorstep!! in full view of everything!

they must have had 12 bottles in each of them, my first thought was to take them into my house until neighbour got home, but then as all the other neighbours (we live in a cul-de-sac) had seen them they might have thought i was stealing them! so i left them, but kept an eye on them. She arrived about 6 and took them inside!

a lot depends on the contract.
if a supplier is happy to have items doorstepped and accept the loss then they get a cheaper contract.
    no need for redeliveries,time etc

because most people shop by price

if they were given a choice of delivery couriers they wouldn't

    you say that
if thats the case, why are so many people using courier resellers (which can lead to more problems) than booking direct with the couriers?

I was expecting a delivery of an X-Box from Amazon yesterday and according to HDNL tracking it was delivered at 2.30 unsigned for.
Just a shame they delivered it to the back of a shed in the wrong road! :wall:
