Morning all. I didn't sleep well last night at all. I've stopped taking the painkillers the hospital gave me as I was feeling worse on them. I don't take any kind of tablets normally and they sent me home with a bag full of strong painkillers. Since I've stopped taking them the nausea has stopped and my head feels clearer. Pain has been manageable but I did have to take some paracetamol last night before bed as my whole head was in agony.

But then I couldn't sleep. It suddenly dawned on me that the last time I had a major op, my nan died. I remember sitting on the ward waiting for my mum to pick me up and she was late. When we got home she told me that my nan had died. Then I spent ages obsessively trying to work out how old I was (16/17?) and what op I'd had done :( didn't make for a good nights sleep unfortunately. Plus I feel very teary this morning. Although my mum tells me anaesthetic does make me teary for about a week after anyway.

So nice gentle day today. I'm hoping to get some sewing done today. It's DS's birthday on Saturday and I am so not organised

Oops I went back to bed. Feel better for a good sleep though.

In other news I've actually got dressed  I know!! My mum is picking the kids up then picking me up and she's making us tea at her house. Literally only 2 streets away but I feel like I'm making progress into the land of the living :T

    Afternoon all.

So after yesterday's excitement of getting dressed, I left the house today :j yay go me! :rotfl:

I went to our church toddler group. Was really strange as DS wasn't with me but it was nice to sit with friends and have a cuppa and a chat. Shattered now though! Weird how seemingly small things can wipe you out when you're not 100%

I'm having a bit of a sit down and a recover for a bit then I need to start preparing for the birthday party of the year tomorrow :rotfl: Poor DS, he has been counting down for weeks. His first proper birthday party, with a bouncy castle and everything. He's so excited. :D

Thanks RT I'm just not used to all this sitting about.

So just checked banks as I may have spent the best part of £90 on concert tickets this morning  how expensive were they?? Anyway turns out DH has been paid :T £300 moved to the building fund savings and we have reached our target :j so pleased. Will ring them on Monday now and pay it off. Woohoo!

Another big (possible) woohoo is that DH has been paid quite a bit more than he usually does. I know he finally got round to putting in for his overtime and I really hope this is what the extra is and not a mistake. I will get him to check. So if it is all his overtime then we may be rich  and by rich I mean back in the black. If we are super careful for the rest of the month then we may have paid off our joint account overdraft. :T

We do have a few things to pay for this month like a party and a bouncy castle :rotfl: but some of that can come from the birthday savings pot. If we are not completely out of the o/d then we will be very close.

Just got to hope it wasn't a mistake now :D

I checked with DH and he said yep it was two months worth of overtime :j I do need to reconcile all weekend/party spending tomorrow as I didn't really have my eye on the ball yesterday. So much to do as I hadn't (obviously) done anything last week and it was only the second proper day i had been up and about. It was all very overwhelming I have to say.

On the up side I had the best night's sleep last night in a week and DS had a lovely day. So all worth it. Just need to check banks in the morning (too tired now) and keep a close eye for the rest of the month.

    Happy Sunday evening x

Nice lazy morning here playing birthday games with DS while DD was still in bed. He's had some fab games/jigsaws for his birthday :D

Yet another inset day today! Last one of the year apparently. Our school seems to have fitted them all in this term. So no school for my monsters today. On the downside I gave to take them both up the doctors with me when I go to get my stitches out.

    Right off to check banks

Banks checked. J/A was in overdraft :( so money moved from birthday/present savings to pay for bouncy castle. The account is now £15 in overdraft but then I did pay almost £90 for concert tickets (oops) and we are due some rent from our rental property so I'm not too worried. I do need to keep a good eye on spending between now and end of month though.

At least this time next month we will be completely out of our o/d as I can use the money we have been saving for the building work each month to cover the shortfall

Now the building work has been saved for (and will be paid later on when I get off here :o ) I have been thinking about "what next"

    So

I would like to have some emergency savings as we have never had those before. We have always saved for something particular but have always relied on our o/d for emergencies. :o How embarrassing for someone who has been a MSE'er for approx 6 years!! I know it's recommended to have 3 months emergency savings but for now £1000 will be a start

Both myself and DH still have our own o/d so some of the money we have been putting aside will help us with that too. So one month I get a "bonus" in my spending money ;) which needs to go towards to o/d and the following month DH gets a "bonus" in his spending money.
I know it's not the quickest way to pay them off but it's probably the fairest way. We both get an amount from the j/a each month that is ours to spend as we please (all bills come from j/a) So sending an extra amount every other month should start bringing our personal o/d's down.

    That's a start

  • What lovely exciting news to see on my return on here! :T Big well done to you lovely - and glad you're starting to feel a bit more "land of the living" after having been so poorly too.

Good idea on the emergency fund savings too - AND on the concert tickets - I'm jealous, knowing who they are for! :D
