I was already with O2 broadband paying £7.50 a month for unlimited downloads - this package is no longer available.
I rang them to enquire about taking their phone as well but they would only let me do it if I moved from my old broadband package to one of their new ones which is now £8 per month for 20GB.
Not worth it for me.0 -
I keep getting all excited by the Primus price only to have to keep reminding myself that once I've added on the £2.50 for caller display it's more expensive than BT's £9.99 offer which has free caller display

Shame cos I'd be only too happy to switch from BT!0 -
Us Brits are a funny lot, we all seem to be scrabbling around to save a few pennies, often with companies with poor track records for service, then come on here and moan when things go wrong .
It isn't just telephone providers, the same applies to insurance companies and utility providers.
Me, I am quite happy to pay a bit more for being with a decent company with good service standards.
( I probably actually pay less in the longer term anyway, once all of the hidden extras with these suspect companies are taken in to account );)0 -
Hey all,
Just to let you know that Primus are excellent. I have been with them for over six months and have no faults with their service. They have billed me correctly, are there at the end of the phone for any technical help albeit the call centre is in the far east. The other excellent thing is my O2 Broadband works perfectly with it ( O2 told me otherwise )
I would never move back to BT and as long as Primus remain cheap will stay with them
The switching process was fantastic and my phone line worked all the way through the process.
I would definitely recommend them to everyone.0 -

Likewise - the same applies to the Post Office Telephone Service which also looked a good bet.0 -
As well as not mentioning the cost of 'extras' you get normally with BT, the article doesn't explain costs incurred if a new line is being installed.
My Mother started with NTL (now Virgin) so she will need a new [BT] line installed by Openreach. Again, the charge to install a new line varies that I actually worked out that BT's deal is the best for her to start with (£30 for a new line) with line rental paid up front for the year and I'd review what would be the best deal out there after a year.0 -
What do you mean, surely you can overide?
I do with Pipex anyway.
You can use the likes of 18185 to place selective calls for the moment, but you cant have your line rental with Primus and place your calls (Carrier Pre Select) via another supplier.Only BT allow people to cps their calls.0 -
I think Martin explains this here in his weekly mailSome providers block overrides, but BT can't due to competition rules and we've Primus's written promise it won't until at least 2012.

Presumably I need to change from Pipex/Tiscali to BT then get line rental with Primus, then I can use 18185?
Sounds like a lot of hassle.0 -

Along similar lines to above what happens if you are not with BT and you have a problem with your line such as the connection point at your house rusts away and the fixing pulls out.
Does BT repair free of charge or what????It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0
