  • Fix Online 9 unit rates elec are same as V3 but gas secondary rate is lower, on v9 than v3, but online discount on V3 is higher than V9 so V9 dearer than V3
  • I actually switched this in the morning on 1st Dec online. Its nice to read that the £30 charge should not apply but by moving on the day, will the discounts on Fixonline V3 still be applied as I am sure I read somewhere, if you change before the end of the contract, the discounts are not applied to the final bill.

Should I have waited until 2nd Dec to change?

    Thanks.

Don't worry jjmwat4; you will receive all the discount applicable to Fixonline 3.

You have completed the full term of the contract right up to the end date, so are entitled to the full amount of discount on this tariff.

Hope this puts your mind at ease. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

I would appreciate opinions for planned future changes.

I am currently on Eon FixOnline 4 - due to finish in February. Of course price hikes are likely soon. I am a high user - 5 peope since kids returned ! But only 20% Economy 7 for electric - this is low I know.
Options are to go to FixOnline 9 or SaveOnline 4 if I stayed with Eon to save the £30 early leaving fee. Comparison sites suggest that FixOnline will cost me about £150 more per year

Also is it worth dumping the Economy 7 at this low use of 20%.

    Thanks for opinions

Hold onto it. It covers most of this winter. If prices go according to cycle, FixOnline 11 around March 2011 will be cheaper than 9, and you will be fixed till May 2012, so it's a better fix.

If you heat by gas, yes.
If you can dump Economy 7 now and keep FixOnline 4, yes.

If E.On won't let you keep FixOnline 4, then just wait till February, when you can switch to whatever.

    Hi gfrdl

This level of night usage is certainly well below the threshold where we would expect you to benefit from an Economy 7 product.

If you think future usage will follow a similar pattern, you would be better off on a single rate tariff. We don't need to change your meter to do this as we simply add your night and day readings together. Just give us a call.

Hope this is useful gfrdl. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

I am grateful for your quick responses Pincher and Malc.
I will stay where I am for now with FixOnline 4
I rang Eon and they could not discontinue the Economy 7 component as the product I am on is so near its end. I pushed them on this - taking it to a manager - but it was a no go.

Hopefully ther will be something attractive in late January 2011 and things have not gone ballistic

    Cheers
