  • Oops, sorry to upset the little boy..... go back and play with your toys !

I'm not upset. It is you who are the little boy coming out with a remark like that when someone corrects your erronous statement.

If you can't take the criticism don't post remarks that are clearly wrong and ill researched.
  • I am also on FixOnlineV3 ending on 1st December 2010 and was intending to turn over onto FixOnline 9 but I have just spotted this note on E.ON's website...

    "
Fix now and your energy prices are protected until 1 March 2012!
Tesco Clubcard points are not available with E.ON FixOnline 9"

E.ON wrote to me earlier this month stating that unless they heard from me to the contrary that they would transfer me to their standard offering, namely E.ON EnergyOnline. Does that still have Tesco Clubcard points attached?

In other words is E.ON looking for a way out of its relationship with Tesco as having been in on this arrangement from the start, I am still getting 1 point per £1 spent and so that's around 1200 points/year, which even with Tesco reducing the value (at 3rd party stores) to three times face value, is certainly worth having.

No Tesco points makes the other companies offers that much more attractive.

  • Hi Spruance

Just to confirm, Tesco Clubcard points are not available on Fixonline 9.

They are available on our standard online product, EnergyOnline, although the discount on this tariff will be less than Fixonline 9.

I'd pop your usage on to one of the comparison sites to see a much fuller picture of the options available to you, both with us and the other suppliers.

Hope this answers your questions Spruance. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

    Thanks Malc,

I'll bear that in mind. :)

PS: After hunting around online I have finally managed to track down a pricing schedule for the FixOnline v9 product and certainly as far as my own region goes, the unit prices are the same as on the standard online tariff which E.ON refer to as the EnergyOnline plan. I don't know if discounts are region-specific too but http://www.energyhelpline.com quotes 8% Dual Fuel discount and 7.9% Online Management discount making 15.9% in all which can't be bad.

Since I suspect that it is highly unlikely that energy prices will fall over the next 16 months, especially if something kicks off in Korea and pushes up commodity prices, I think the sacrifice of the Tesco Clubcard points is probably a small price to pay. Not only that but as I cannot fault E.ON on customer service, and their website is so easy to navigate I think I will be staying with them for a while longer yet.

    One final PS:
I've just phoned E.ON and asked about switching to FixOnline v9 and they say that I can do that myself online and that it doesn't matter that I am doing this prior to 1st December (The termination date for FixOnline v3) as there will be no penalty since I am not leaving E.ON, which was also deshepherd's question.

Not that I know FixOnline 3 rates for your region,
but I'm assuming 9 rates are higher?

So why would you WANT to pay the higher rate a few days earlier?

Take the meter readings on 30th November, submit them, THEN switch to 9 online. Unless you think E.On is going to withdraw 9 on 29th November?

That's the only reason, the cynical side of me had been thinking that with the prospects of people on FO3 wanting to switch at start of December then offers might be "adjusted" upwards then ... however, launch of FO9 now would seem to contradict that ... if it hadn't been around I'd be conmsidering a switch to the slightly more expensive capped rate!

What are you? A retired paranoid strategist for the Cold War?

So you want to launch a pre-emptive strike, before Nikita E.Onid Kruschov can overrun Poland?:D

Good stuff, but 9 is only good because the horse has bolted.

If only people took notice when they said this:

    Fixing in November? Silly Billys.

One reason why people don't fix is because they are already in a fixed price contract at a lower rate, and would have to pay a penalty to break it on top. Know-all.

Such a person would finish his fix every year around November time, and perpetuate this cycle of masochism.
