Thanks for the info joelpub. 1 November is only a week away now, O2 will reveal their hand pretty soon. Hopefully the new tariffs will be better, and not worse value.

That being said, it seems that the telcos have lately shifted their focus to increasing revenues rather than enticing customers from other networks :-/. I think a possible reason for this is that more customers now being locked into 18mo contracts and so the rate at which we can churn our contracts has dropped quite significantly.

Well, there's o2 direct themselves. There is Dial A phone and Mobile shop if I am not wrong. Forum members might be able to advise on others!

    O2's website T & C's says:

Inclusive call minutes can be used to call some non-geographical and special services numbers with the following prefixes: 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0870. Once the inclusive minute allowance has been used up, calls to these numbers will be charged as calls to standard UK landlines at the prevailing tariff. Some exceptions may apply and calls to some numbers may be free of charge.

  • I am having a very big problem with cpw at the moment.
I noticed a charged of 6 odd quid on my account. So I called their customer disservice line and was told that these charges were due to calls to 0844 numbers. Why was I not advised of this? Anyway, they can always state that terms and conditions can change at their discretion. Can someone tell me if they can do so legally without advising the customer? Is it legal to charge me for those calls without first advising me and on top of that charge, my free minutes have gone down!

Now now, I remember in August I received a call from cpw as it as midway into my contract. He agreed to bolt on another 100 text. I specifically asked what non-geographic numbers are included in my free minutes. he specifically stated 0844 as one of those numbers. This was mid August 2006! Today I called and was told by the agent that since August 01 2006, 0844 numbers were no longer being included as a free number. Now two different pieces of information from one company, same department. Also, given the information that I received in mid August, I called 0844 and used up most of my free mins since then. Today, the agent told me that he cannot guarantee that I will not be charged retroactively...is it legal to back charge me during me a new billing period?

    Can someone shed some light?

According to this link, 0844 numbers are included as with 0845/0870 etc.

I took out two new O2 contracts (through e2save/OSPS) which were activated yesterday. When I called CPW today, I was told 0855/0845/0870 numbers were included but 0800/0808 were not. I was also told 0871 numbers are included, whereas the website clearly says not. So it seems the customer services representatives aren't too clued up themselves.

    0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0870 numbers are definitely included but not 0871.
