O.K I just took a look at my tyres.
I have 195/55/15 on the front and 185/55/15 on the back.
any idea why this is? (I have had all fours tyres changed within the last 6 months and a mot just over a month ago)
do I stick to these sizes when buying winter tyres?(looking at partworns) or do I match up all 4?
I am so confused.
I am trying to learn how to look after my car but its all so bladdy complicated.0 -

It is not that unusual to have different width tyres on the front and back. Check your owners manual to find the manufacturers recommendations.0 -

no handbook as it was a used car,if I put my reg number in the tyre suppliers websites they suggest a different size again.

Did you get a bag for your wheels as they mentioned on the KwikFit site?
Yes they come with "bags". They're actually just massive plastic carrier bags like Tesco but does the job
Had mine on 2 weeks now and the difference is amazing! When I got mine they are stamped 4110 so they were made week beginning 11th October this year. Impressive they're that new given they're so hard to get hold of.0 -

Thanks
that lists 175/65 R14 under my model.
Should I be worried that my tyres are 195/55 R15 and 185/55 R15
I have no real understanding of what the differing figures actually mean.
I am now even more confused than this morning.:eek:0 -

www.mytyres.co.uk have a good selection of winter tyres and steel wheel with tyres sets
If you are keeping the same rims then a 185/55 R15 winter set should be fine so just search for those on mytyres. originakl manufactureres equipment on your car may have been 14" wheels but you can fit larger and wider wheels no problem providing there is clearance in the wheel arches on full lock. I would avoid the cheap Asian imports in general when looking at the tyres
Or as I posted earlier ebay has a selection of part worn used winter tyres generally so just search through those0 -

Thank you that makes sense now.
I think I will go for part worn as the new non asian imports on mytyres are out of my price range.0 -

I suspect that a previous owner has replaced the standard 14" wheels with 15" ones. I wouldn't worry about the tyres you have already. When the time comes to replace them choose one of the two sizes and stick with it (I'd choose whichever size is the cheapest.)
Remember that you should never mix different sizes on the same axle so you will need to replace them in sets of two. i.e. Both 185's at the same time and/or both 195's at the same time.0 -

How do you know what size rims they are on?
Personally I'd get the ones that fit the rim best.0
