  • It's worth being aware that the balances shown on the internet are updated only overnight so not live time ... at least that seems to be the case - am i right Caroline?

    Hi Calypso Rhapsody,

For branch accounts, cleared funds will appear the next day.

For payments into online accounts it depends how you make the payment and at what time of day - some will appear immediately (online transfers between Skipton accounts and debit card payments made online before 4pm on a working day) and some will take longer (eg payments made online after 4pm and transfers from your own bank that might take three days to reach us).

If you transfer money between Skipton accounts (where the terms and conditions of the account allow) after 4pm on a working day, you may notice that the money appears to have left one account and no yet arrived into the other. This won't show until the next day in the account you are transferring into.

Probably more information than you were hoping for but I hope this helps!

I second what others have said about Holborn - I opened mine yesterday and felt as if I was in a little village rather than London! Lovely staff :)

Was a little miffed about not seeing on-line, especially as I live nowhere near a branch. Will take up the tip about an online account :)

Also a bit miffed about signing away my rights to any windfall taxes :rotfl:.

    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

  • Following on from Milarky’s post I can confirm that the Regular Saver paying 5.00% gross pa/AER will be withdrawn by end of business on Friday 10 December. A new Regular Saver will be launched at 3.25% gross pa/AER. The 5.00% gross pa/AER version was a Limited Edition account and all promotional material, both in branch windows and online, encouraged customers to act now due to the limited nature of the offer.

At Skipton we always like to offer our customers competitive rates and occasionally we launch marketing leading rates – but these can’t be on offer indefinitely. The 5.00% gross pa/AER Regular Saver has recently been removed from our website but you can still open an account in branch until Friday.

    Thanks,

    Samantha

  • I think the sign in process to Online Accounts is more robust than many other banks and/building societies; I particularly like their use of a GRID CARD.

I have had a number of accounts with the Skipton and have been very pleased so far with their service.

Hi everyone thanks for the advice on how to view the regular saver online. I have now opened a MySavings instant access account giving 2.5% http://www.skipton.co.uk/savings_and_investments/e-savings/my_savings/
Was a little miffed about not seeing on-line, especially as I live nowhere near a branch. Will take up the tip about an online account :)
At present I can only see the MySaver account and cannot see the regular saver yet, however the welcome email states "A grid card is also now on its way to you in the post. When you receive the card [...] you will also be able to view all your savings with us, even those set up through a branch."

Hopefully once the grid card is received I will be able to view the regular saver online :o. Will provide an update when I find out.

    UPDATE 11/12/2010

Have now received grid card (took 4 days to arrive) and can view "offline accounts" including regular saver. :j

NB - To view the accounts you have to make sure that under the Personal Preferences you have ticked the Display offline accounts option.

Sorted - thanks Nessie :). Just what I needed - another savings account with £5 in it :rotfl:

VERY limited, this account has lasted not even 3 weeks! I've not been in the UK so have had no chance to apply for this one. I can't imagine it was over subscribed as you can't apply online, so I wonder why it was pulled so soon?
