Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

A wet morning here but not too cold.

Well not had much sleep last night as twin 1 woke up 5 times and took a bit to get back off.
They both loved there new pepper pig blankets when we took them up to bed last last night:T:T

It jsut seen on the bbc breakfast show that the daily mail has on there front page that 6inch of snow is due to fall on britan:eek: not sure when so ill have to keep a look out.

Iv got myself a tin of chicken broth soup for my lunch at work today.

Will be having chicken stir fry tonight for dinner. Got quite a lot of chicken left over from our roast yesterday

6 inches of snow - yipeeeee!!!! Morning all. Have got my sledges at the ready - proper ones too - My OH had one in the roof of his mums garage, and I bought one cheaply in an antiques centre. YIPEEEEE. Start of the week again. Don't know what happened to the weekend - picked up a real solid oak fireplace on Saturday that I got from e*** for £20!!! and then went to my neighbours 50th on Saturday night. Yesterday was spent with a migraine (not hangover) and as the children were VERY naughty they were in bed at 3.30pm so I was able to get a decent nights sleep for once.

Caught up with a friend at the party and found we're both scrabbling through somehow - head down and get on with it! Must find her number and give her a ring. OS wise..... managed to get the turkey for christmas in the freezer - I feel so much better when I have the main event sorted! Tonights tea will be pie for the littlies and leftovers for me as I'm out at tea time. Starting a new diet today - need to lose some inches to get into my everyday clothes.

Christmas fair in school at the end of this week so a wee bit of snow would be lovely. Very Christmassy. As long as I can still get the children to school and get into work myself!!

Morning all - seems that there was snow in Durham at the weekend, am so glad it didn't move that bit further north!

Early start today and just about to go out the door. Last night I prepared my breakfast - chopped egg and mayo - and defrosted my lunch. :j I'm not always so organised so little jumps of joy are in order. :j:j

NSD again today. I could get used to this. Still eating out the freezer, I don't use milk in drinks though OH does so a pint lasts all week.

Managed to clear out 5 of the 6 drawers in the kitchen last night and can't fathom out why I've got 12 boxes of matches no-one smokes here. I have them in the bathroom :eek: and have another box next to the candle box in case of power cuts but, as for the others......?

Anyway - hope that everyone is warm and well and if you're not then good vibrations to you.

Morning All!
Cat woke me up at 4.30!:eek: Couldn't sleep after that so got up and had a cuppa. No more milk in fridge, so will have to go out after all. We have a new Asda, opened last week, that I haven't been to yet. It opens at 7 so maybe I'll go then:rotfl:

Washing on. OH started to make wardrobes in our back bedroom at the weekend. The amount he's spent on wood it would have been cheaper to get Sharps bedrooms to do it!:rotfl: Still it looks good at the mo.....

My dad's flat should be finally sold this week. Hope so, as the twelve week deadline with Social Services is nearly up, and I can't afford the fees.:o
Still he seems happy enough.

Have to look in the freezer to see what to have for dinner, liver and bacon would be nice.

Morning folks. Been up since the alarm went at 5.15 - an early start for DH at work today. On my 2nd mug of coffee and i'm more of a tea person, so maybe i just needed the extra caffeine today!
Wet, wet and wet here. Little dog has been out but oldie not keen yet. We bought her a dog coat a couple of years ago but she refuses to walk in it - she just sits down and won't budge. She's 11 and a half now and we've had her since she was 1. All I can say is that she is getting v e r y stubborn in her old(er) age. She pretends to be deaf when you call her in the park but you can see her sniffing away while also peering up through her eyebrows to check that you are still there. No sign of deafness this morning when i dropped a tiny bit of cheese (not a noisy thing!) in the kitchen. She was through like a shot. Her eyesight isn't as good as it was though and I tend to wave at her so she can see me from a distance in the park. People must wonder what I'm doing but she knows it's me so comes rather than heading off to anything else that looks like a person.
Goodness that was a lot of dog chat.
Plans for today include soup making and a sort through of the freezer. Need also to clean kitchen windows and noticed that the windowsills need a good scrub! Bedding to iron and then make bed in prep for my Dsis and her DH coming on Wed. Have been good and already cleaned the spare room so at least it's nearly ready for them. Am usually at the last minute with things so this has been good.

Ok, have a good day all. Off to read through rest of yest's Daily.

Morning all
DW's been emptied, packups made, HM Leek & chicken soup for me, I have 3 tins of sausagerolls/ cakes/cheesecake/scones to take in for my workmates.
Tea tonight is Toad in the hole with leftover cocktail sausages from yesterday.
I had to upgrade my phone yesterday as mine stopped working, new phone will be here tomorrow & my bill will reduce to £13 pcm, because hubby & I are both with 3 we get 5000 free minutes to talk to each other, lol, if we used all that, we'd have nothing to say when we were together.
Off to work now.

I haven't posted on this thread for literally years, but I've recently started trying to get up a bit earlier so I can start the working day more calmly and coming here could be a morning treat :-).

I've badly fallen off the OS wagon this year, with a stressful work situation (I was working at a university and the cuts were starting to bite) and a horrible bereavement, losing my mother unexpectedly, also studying for a teaching qualification that the university insisted I did at my own expense (£1500) but then moving to a new job where they didn't care about the qualification (ggrrrr). So, the worst of my exams was last Friday, and I'm settled in my new job, so it's time to start living a bit more in accordance with my values - much more simply, with a focus on making things at home and not wasting money. Having said that, I've got a really busy day and I may ending up buying something out to eat tonight as I'm going out straight after work to a free poetry event at Manchester City Library, and I won't be home till 8 at the earliest. I'd take something with me to work, but we don't have a fridge and I haven't got anything in which doesn't need to be kept cold. Bad planning! If this happens again I'll be more prepared next time. I could nip out to the shops and buy some cup-a-soups actually, and a bread roll, so I might do that. We get 'free school dinners' at work - it's a Chinese-owned college and all the staff get a real Chinese lunch prepared by Chinese chefs with the ingredients imported from Fujian, but some of the food is quite scary... Sometimes my 'what sort of meat is this?' questions are not answered by the Chinese who I'm sitting with!

Anyway, sorry for the ramble, but I think it would be nice to come here in the mornings and try and get an OS start to the day!

Have got to go to town for milk - I think the milk fairies moved in this weekend , they have drunk 4 litres :eek:

Will sort ot the hall and utility room as well, now that most of DH's carp is now in the new shed :j :j Even he was surprised at how much stuff he has.

Well I am off to stick a cold flannel on DS's face and see if that stirs him.

Morning all,

Very cold here this morning, but no rain, :T, will get a wash on after doing this, might have a chance of hanging it out today, I have bedding drapped all over the house as it rained yesterday, so would be nice to get some dried outside.

WE went out for lunch yesterday, and I must say I was really dissapointed with it, OH and I had a steak which was tasteless, mum and nephew had roast beef which was really tough, wont go there again, next time either I will cook at home, or get a take away in.

Got to call M + S today they charges me twice for a box of chocs on friday, dont think they will give me a refund but must be worth a go.

Need to hoover house today, and have a good tidy / clean through, and do an online shop.

DD has a college interview today, so will take her to that. Roast pork for dinner tonight.

Morning all

Overcast this morning, but not sure about the temperature as I haven't ventured out yet. Got back from our weekend away at 4pm yesterday had a lovely time, but missed the boys as always, now back to earth with a bump!

Had left a fresh chicken in the fridge to cook yesterday but it was too late by the time we'd got sorted, so cooked some frozen battered fish pieces, chips and beans for DH and boys and I had a piece of fish, and a jacket potato. Will be cooking roast chicken for Wednesday night instead, will have to decide what to do for tomorrow night, as the fish was on the menu that was eaten last night ... but pleased that we did not succombe to a take-away and we spent very little over the weekend.

WM went on last night so will transfer that to the TD and get another load in before I go to work. Dinner tonight will be pork chops that I did remember to defrost.

Got to go and get ready for work grrr..... could do with some time off I think!

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
