been to Mr Ms. DD's lunch sorted - she's having Aunt Bessie's Toad in the hole - I would make it myself by my oven refuses to properly cook bar=tter - i can't make Yorkshire's in it either. I'm doing her mash. I'm also casseroling some (rather aged) meat from the freezer for the kids tea tomorrow and have a jacket potato in for me and one for DS when he deigns to return. I bought tw0 more bags of cat litter so that's 3 now - I'll need to use one imminently but two will stay in the car. I have also shoved a nature valley bar and a block of cheap chocolate in the glove box.

Am pondering whether to put my sleeping bag in the car - seems rather dramatic but, if I get stuck at work I could at least doss down on someone's floor (we have staff in the village) and if I were stuck in the car it would, at least, be warm...

well I am using the fact that it' freezing outside to defrost my freezer - all the food is outside (bagged) keeping cold!

Brilliant idea. I have done that in the past but had forgotten all about the merits of defrosting while it is freezing outside. I can pop everything into my back porch.

Just popping on quickly. We are in the 'unfortunate' position that our kids are snowed in at the MILs and we are snowed in here so kid free for no reason. We both have lots of school work to do and the bottom floor is a mess due to all the snow and sludge we have been trudging in and out but once I get those bits done I can crack on with the FLYlady list.
Even managed a bath this morning - living the dream!!!

It only ever happened to us once. and we really enjoyed being a couple again for a couple of days. Winter of 94-95 I think it was. And this weekend has been our first weekend of 'just the two of us' since 2005 when they were all on school activities. Make the most of it while you can :D

  • Thanks for your comments - grateful - don't worry it's not my choice of newspaper, somebody sent me the link.

    That's a relief!!

Did I tell you the story the boiler man told me about someone with an aga that kept cutting out? He'd replaced the same part three times and had begun to despair, when one day it cut out while he was there.

It was the family great dane lying up against the air vents in the door over the controls, blocking them and making it cut out:rotfl:

Well I'm grinding to a halt...... Swopped the chairs in the dining room over, got OH to put up a wall hanging (hides the dirty bits on the wall!), He started putting up a set of hanging baskets, but he had the wrong bracket or something. Then the boys went sledging on the hill behind the house - so I got to sit in the conservatory and sort out their toys whilst I was watching them.

Fast forward 45 mins and we've eaten a roast dinner and I've made some mince pies whilst the oven was on. I'm now sitting down and will sort through my sideboard FULL of paperwork. I have a bin bag and a box for things to file. Hopefully everything else will be binned. Looking at the snow coming down thick and fast I'm not sure we'll be going anywhere tomorrow so if we're stuck I'll get to the kitchen cupboards and then the cupboards in the sitting room. Need to get out to the post office really before I can claim a cleared dining room.

Thanks for your support guys. xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Not me - our freezer is out in the garage so I'd freeze if I tried it today (plus the snow is still heavy and quite deep so I'd lose the food!

The bits and bobs of general housework are plodding by very slowly but in the name of spoiling myself whilst child-free I have also dyed my hair. I am having quite serious thoughts about really going crazy and painting my toenails tonight too!!

I've finally got all the carpet grips and nails out of the stairs. Took me an HOUR  My back is breaking now, but it looks so much better already. I've filled the wheelie bin & hopefully I should be able to get rid of the end of the carpet once its been emptied. I'd put it in someone elses bin as well but they're all full  Must be the season for clearing out :rotfl:Can't even catch the binmen and ask if they can take the last couple of bags as they come any time after 7am and often come when I'm on the school run

Off to make shepherds pie for tea and then I'm going to chase DD in the bath so I can have one. I stink from working so hard I was actually sweating :o

I have 200-400 words to go.

Bibliography is almost there and looks neat and tidy

Nearly there. will finish off while the tennis is on - VAMOS!

Then shovel dinner onto cook and get books ready to take back tomorrow

C'mon now for the final push! - got distracted by the exOH who came round and we had a nice chat for a few hours and he collected his highly delayed b'day present so all is well there for now
