Weekly Flylady Thread 22nd November 2010

  • Hello everyone!
Yes it has been months since I have been on........cant believe it is almost december. I decided to have a pootle through and saw Triker's post about old flyladies popping on to say hello...so here I am!

I have been up to soooooooo much - I volunteer with the Army Cadet Force (ACF) and that seems almost as much as full time job as my paid full time job! In October I went to Devon to do a week's course so that I am a "proper" instructor, that was tough especially the staying out overnight on Dartmoor with howling gales and full rain. I passed the course (yay) but it completely wiped me out.
I help out with my own detachment one night a week, help hubby with his on another night in the week, we have been doing cadet in the Community almost every weekend and I have a newsletter to put together today.

Work is ok,at least I have a job so am very grateful for that. Hubby's business is very slowly creeping along so although there have been lean months (ok a lot of lean months) we are managing.

I also seem to have caught every bug going (!!!) and what with running the house as well time seems to have run away.

I do the house work when I can but the house is upside down right now, we are having fitted wardrobes put in next week so there seems to be mess everywhere. grrrrrrrr!

My depression took a good kicking recently as well so have been trying to get myself better in that way. All in all very busy!

I hope this finds you all well and I look forward to catching up.

    Bless,

    1 step xxxxxxxxx

Big box of sticks brought in just need some turf in and that will be the fire sorted for tonight. :D

You saying sticks always makes me smile, does that translate as logs? Sticks to me are thin bits for kindling. With turf though I'm completely at a loss - is it because of the peat - confused smilie

:snow_laug Need some Christmas present help! My brother is getting SIL a sewing machine for Christmas, and I'd like to buy her a home sewing project book of some kind. She enjoys crafty things, but hasn't had a sewing machine before. Any suggestions?

If she's never had a machine before then a day course at the local college could be a great gift. I went on one 'get to know your sewing machine' a few years ago. I think it was 4 or 6 hours. It did not cost much but I learnt so much.

Day going in peaks and troughs. DH car has broken down so I had to get him and he needs to get the RAC out now.

Had a good trip to a charity shop and got part of DS3's costume, the last pack of christmas cards I needed plus some fab wine glasses - pale blue with gold paint on them. There were only 5 in the set but then we are a family of 5 :T Kids love using posh stuff and as they were £4 for the 5 it won't matter if there is an accident (of which I am more likely to have than the kids.

Must get on as I need to go and get DH and DS3 from squash in a minute. Tomorrow will be a long day as I still have most of the list to do.

Yep your sticks would be my firelighters/twigs and your logs is my sticks and turf is dried peat. :D I actually dread to think what my logs would be.:rotfl:

Lunch done here so i best reload the dw. Rhys away for a snooze so i'll get the livingroom done while he's away.

Loaf now in the oven, Deliah says 230 so it's 230, i'll see how it turns out.:rotfl:
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.

Sitting here with my finger in a vinegar/bicarb solution trying to remove a splinter. Normally I'd use a needle but its too tiny & in an awkward place

    Todays plan:
    - washing up - almost done just 3 pans & a big jug but no room in drainer
    - laundry load - on & will be for a while!
    - lists of what needs doing & when
    - Ironing
    - Quick dust through
    - knitting of hat & scarf - done some more of the scarf
    - Vacuum through & scrub kitchen floor then put rug down.
    - IF I get time I'll start washing down paintwork ready to paint tomorrow.

Decorating To-do: (Italics are not urgent, but need to be done once the rest is done, preferably before the new carpets go in!)
    Paint DDs walls
    Paint my bedroom walls
Paint my bedroom walls again (painting magnolia over blue!)
    Paint hallway again x 2
Sugar soap all the gloss work (sanding where necessary)
    Paint gloss work
    Paint bathroom ceiling
    Paint bathroom walls
    Clear surfaces in livingroom
Fill cracks in ceiling & holes around pipework & any holes in wall from pictures
    Paint ceiling
    Paint walls
Sugarsoap/sand gloss work in livingroom & kitchen
    Repair floor trim
Sugarsoap gloss work in livingroom & kitchen
    Paint glosswork
    Paint kitchen ceiling
    Paint kitchen walls

Please dont take my question as offensive, I was just asking!!!:o

I didn't I was just tired and dashing off to bed.. sorry if I sounded a bit sharp :p..
pigpen OH's Mum's church and vicar sound like the right place - the vicar sounds like he would welcome LO and if she is going to go there when visiting IMHO it would be better than being baptised grudgingly by the vicar near you - he def needs reporting - LO should be welcomed openly - it is the responsibility of the congregation too to welcome her and look out for her so my vote is with Stockport!

But then we have the issue of getting Me, OH, 8 children, DS1, gf and Jacob, my mother, stepdad, 2 sisters and 2 respective OH's over there and put up for the night..

Well my daillies are done, collected M+S Beauty Gifts order first thing this morning and they are great and I can reuse the boxes for hampers this Christmas

I have booked my holiday for June and have the confirmation that I AM GOING ON MY OWN - I am strong enough to do this now and I can't wait!! So excited! One of the beauty gifts was for me a travel size collection of shower gel and body lotions etc to take with me! If I hadn't booked it then I think I would have talked myself out of it and what I said to myself this year was, as I work full time, I deserve a summer holiday after 3 years without one and I enjoyed it this year and I'm off again this year apart from in a pod rather than a tent. Can't stretch to anything more luxurious atm!

I have 1290 words left to write and make sense of in 30hrs until 10pm tomorrow night deadline

Then flying can resume next week as usual - I have washed and changed the bedding and kept up to date with wiping the sides, washing up and WM etc no HHI so far but will squeeze this in tomorrow.

My winter collection of Yankee Candles arrived today and the last autumn one is burning away before the festive fragrances come out to play!

My little dog is a little unwell today and my temperature has stared going up and down after feeling pretty dreadful yesterday I think something big is about to arrive virus wise so I'd better get that bottle of first defence out of the cupboard to see if it will ward it off as I don't want any more time off sick and want to get back out running again after 2 weeks off with a virus and then assignment

Forgot to mention we have snow too and what a lovely photo mof5
