in Credit cards
I purchased a rice cooker for £7 from Asda with my Asda credit card on 8th October 2010. The rice cooker did not work at all so I returned it on my next visit to Asda on 15th October 2010.
When I returned home that day, my Asda credit card statement had been delivered requesting that I pay the balance of £7 off by 3rd November 2010. As I had returned the goods, I thought that would be classed as payment.
On the 3rd November, Asda took £7 from my Nationwide current account to pay for the credit card, so I am now £7 worse off and have no goods to show for it.
To add insult to injury, I received my latest credit card bill yesterday and have now been charged a late payment fee of £12 despite the £7 shown credited twice on my statement.
Well Asda have really !!!!ed me off this time, so they will be finding my credit card cut in two in their post this week and they won't ever see me again.

good for you.
Have you considered a Tesco credit card, they offer clubcard points which you can use to purchase Omega watches from Goldsmiths.0 -
Did the refund actually go through before the payment was made, and was it at £0 balance before and after?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

The refund was credited according to the Asda credit card statement on 15th October 2010.
The payment was received from my current account on 3rd November 2010.
The late payment fee was charged on 9th November 2010.0 -
WAs it at £0 balance though? What do your terms and conditions say about payments? I don't think there's many cards left who see refunds as payments now?TightWadAndStillPoor wrote: »The refund was credited according to the Asda credit card statement on 15th October 2010.

Refund credits to your credit card are NOT the same as payment credits.
If your statement showed £7 to pay, then that is what you should have paid and has nothing to do with what may be refunded (so your assumption as per your post is wrong here). However as Asda took the payment as per the statement on the 3rd (I assume you have a direct debit set up for this via them?) to cover your credit card, I would be asking why there is a late payment fee as they have taken the payment correctly.0 -
Credit cards don't work that way I'm affraid but I'm sure if you gave asda a call and explained the suituation they would sort something out for you!0

The OP said that payment was collected from their bank account - by DD I would assume - thereby meaning it couldn't possibly be late.My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

Well I've done the deed, cut up their card, written a letter and invoiced them in accordance with their terms and conditions.
Administration fee for returned items: £12.00
Over limit fee: £12.00 (as I was informed by Asda that £7 had been credited to my account when I returned the item, thereby exceeding the limit required by £7.00)
Cash transactions: 25.249% (Yes, I know it's £1.75 per year, but it's their rate and it'll probably go on for years).
Defamation of character: £negotiable (Depends whether they are prepared to repair my credit rating after ruining it).0 -
Do you actually understand the concept of defamation of character? How exactly are you planning on claiming a 'negotiable' figure for something that hasn't happened?TightWadAndStillPoor wrote: »Well I've done the deed, cut up their card, written a letter and invoiced them in accordance with their terms and conditions.
