Happy Monday Matrix!
Just a quick pop in to say hello... my new BF and my boss are closeted away somewhere having a chat about the current team issues we are having. I think both of them are strung out and very, very stressed at the moment. On Friday my boss actually broke down and started crying, whereupon I whisked her off for a stiff coffee and a long chat. Turns out that the office junior is being a little !!!!!! and causing all kinds of stress, even whilst trying to put the blame for all the things going wrong on other people's shoulders. Now, my new BF has some serious character faults (haven't we all!) and I do find her a prickly customer to get on with... but the office junior should be behaving himself as well. Apparently our HR (standing for Human Remains!) department are referring the whole team to a team arbitration meeting. I cannot see that this will go well. Both sides of the current arguments will be extremely defensive and argumentative, with my boss and me stuck in the middle. Blood on the carpet is all I foresee. Oh well. Positive vibes for us please.
In other news, I only have 3 days at work before the Easter break. I am so grateful for that, I could weep!!Right... off to conquer the mountain that is my to do list! Have a great one Matrix!

Well I've eaten my frog, and it wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be :rotfl:
Had an interesting discussion over the weekend about K4K with a Zimbabwean friend......seems that *sometimes* Africans (whole continent meant here) view Impatient Europeans as the chance for getting some extra dosh. And time wasting is deliberate........
I kinda guessed that
And I have the Tightwad Gazette - some good ideas there, but she is strangely driven. What is she using all the money she's saved for? Not for living it would seem
I was trying so hard not to say that :rotfl:
Don't know what she used the money for? Paying of her mortgage maybe.
I have got a plan for every penny that I can save

Hmmmmm having seen the beautiful property she lives in I would suggest that's what she's saved the money for......and to be able to retire with her husband.
I seem to be going against the grain here but I've got the Tightwad Gazette and it never came across as not being full of abundance and certainly not a hair shirt mentality <shrug>I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

GL GL GL as they say (or used to when I wasn't locked out of those B*ngo sites) :rotfl:
As for the Tightwad Gazette, I used a lot of her hints and they were very helpful. But I remember reading an interview with her. She proudly showed the journalist her fridge to prove that she didn't waste food. In it was an apple one of her children had started and not finished, so it was put away for later (I'm not sure how I feel about that though) and bits of leftovers, but not much. The journo was there for 4 hours and in that time was offered a cup of coffee, (with no biscuit of course) and that is all. I guess I would be VERY uncomfortable to be that inhospitable.
As for the big house. I moved 8 times in 13 years with my ex, getting a bigger house each time and I can assure you that the flashy house and car had NO bearing on how happy I was. I look back at those times and sometimes it was happy, and sometimes it wasn't (Biggest house coincided with our split but it wasn't the house that was wrong). We'd have money to move if we want when we return, but I don't want bigger and better any more.........0 -
I remember reading in the Tightwad Gazette that she bought a sack of potatoes every fall and that lasted them till spring. I get through two and a half sacks a winter and I don't have 6 growing children and a husband who does a lot of physical work. (And we don't eat potatoes with every meal - we get through a lot of rice and pasta as well). Then in one of her other articles she says that a tennis ball sized baked potato with some cheese sauce and bacon bits and broccoli is an adequate meal.
No wonder she says her children are on the lean side!!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

Me neither. I was thinking about how I want to live in our new home (because, of course, the perfect buyer for our house is just around the corner!) and what I noticed was that I don't want more things. I want contentment and simplicity and time at home with the cats and the hubby. With the outside chance of a puppy (because I will be closer to work and can nip home at lunchtime to let the beastie out); and the chance to entertain my friends and (some of) my family in my house with homegrown veggies and home made food. In fact, when I discussed it with hubby, we also want to replace our current furniture which we bought at a very famous swedish retailer with flat packs with furniture we get from auctions. Previously loved pieces which need a bit of TLC to bring back to life. We want to make any changes to our house ourselves, unless it is too technical, in which case we will save our pennies to make sure we get the best job done possible. Oh, and I want some chickens.
All in all, a very OS and simple life. But oh, so abundant!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Gm Matrix.
You perhaps remember Bailey the Great Dane I posted about a motn ago.
Half starved, only a third of his normal body weight etc.,
Massive thank you again for all the positibe, healing vibes.
Bailey has now made a full recovery and is ready to go to his forever home. The only downside is that he is deaf, but other than that there are no ongoing problems.
Tracy really believes that all the good vibes contributed to this boy surviving, especially in light of the fact that hisl itter sister didn't make it.
thanks again everyone xxx0 -

Brilliant news F.
Morning all, I have a very big frog! It is jumping all over the office and wont sit still long enough for me to eat it. It is more like a toad, slimy and horrible. Also known as Allied and Loathsome! Well it isnt allying with me at the moment so it needs to go. Only problem is it is bound to be replaced with an even bigger toad.
Crickett, office politics can be very stressful for all concerned. Sounds like you are a lovely team member to have on side. Go to the meeting with an open mind, be objective and dont take things at a personal level, remember all the people that are causing the problems are probably quite insecure and only know one way to manage those insecurities. As the Dalai Llama says - have compassion for you enemies, it will help you to deal more easily with whatever comes. Big positive vibes heading your way. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0
