Me too, me too...
FW (doing the avoidance thing again but at least I did visit my GP and have been referred to a specialist)0 -
We are now the proud owner of an Over Pay the mortgage jar. Will amend the DD to overpay by £50 each month and any spare cash gets bunged in the jar and paid against mortgage at the end of the month. I think I realise why it's so difficult to motivate my H in MSE, he can't see the benefit to himself. I mean me being a SAHM rather than a CM has very little impact on him personally as I am still at home regardless so the incentive to save and stop spending isn't there. However being mortgage free DOES impact him hence he's more motivated and even said unprompted he needs to stop spending so much on the kids. So it's baby steps but progress in the right direction
Positive vibes I can keep him interested
Have also started some decluttering, one bin bag full of clothes already for charity shop and a shed load of stuff to ebay!!! Why does decluttering mean the house ends up more untidy than when you started <sigh>I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Have you checked your contract Bitsy - also you need to tell them to overpay rather than reduce your DD next month0

I have, it's a flexible mortgage and I can overpay upto £500 without incurring the Early Repayment Charge
I will be ringing them to amend the DD and point out that this is to overpay rather than to reduce following month
Oh and we have a bloke coming round tomorrow to give us a quote for a conservatory :eek: We need to bite the bullet and get one, will help with my sanity and the clutter of toys.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

OMG!!! Looks like we will all be OP our mortgages. I've decided to have a mortgage pig - its pink plastic and don't suppose it will get fed very much as I tend not to have cash on me.
Payments for bills happen electronically and now LIDL takes cards I do that as without money in my pocket I am less tempted to "go shopping" IYSWIM.
Might look at setting up a PAD to my mortgage account instead - may need to start gently at a pound and then look to generate more money to make it up to the £130 per month target.
Just submitted the meter readings for this month. Gas is down from 5 to 2.5 units per day and electricity pretty static at 10 units per day. How does that stack up with anyone else - are we still using way too much fuel?
MG
ETA: PAD set up for £1.00 per day (seeing as I saved £15 per month yesterday with Orange that shouldn't bee too bad to squeeze into the budget)FINALLY AND OFFICIALLY DEBT FREESmall Emergency Fund £500 / £500
Pay off all Debts £10,000 / £10,000
Grown Up Emergency Fund £6000 / £6000 :j
Pension Provision £6688/£23760 -
I'm not sure what my units are, but the meter man came round last week, and even at this time of year, I've managed to be £26 in credit (I think!) Quite pleased at that.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Oh yes it will add value but it's going to cause a bit of a PITA are Barratt who built the house in the late 70's decided that ONE shared downpipe between two semis was adequate  Guess where said down pipe isSo that's just going to add more hassle as pipe and drain will have to be moved first before any conservatory is built. Not sure how that will affect the price but ho hum needs must. On a positive note though at least I get to have the rain water for my veggie plot
With regards to OP club.......I am actually embarrassed I never thought about doing it sooner. Honestly it just never occured to meI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
