Oooh...next time I need a pattern I shall remember that and give a holler! Thank you!!
And thanks to everyone for your lovely supportive messages. You would have thought, after a lifetime of being different to the herd generally, I would be used to this kind of thing... but it still gets to me every time."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
You made me giggle Crickett - you see I spent this morning sitting in the car waiting for the boys ............... and knitting a pink sock - 15 minutes knitting and listenning to the radio, 15 minutes re-reading the "4 Hour Work Week" . Did get some very strange looks from people walking past though. Was determined not to get out of the car and venture anywhere near the shops so that I could report in a NSD.
................. mind you I am 3/4 of the way through a sock now - will finish the rest at some point over the weekend I am sure. Even the wool was free as it came to me yesterday from one of my old dears.
I craft because I like quality - clothes that fit, socks that are scrummy soft, quilts made from old clothes and memories. I even used to knit on Tour Buses - knitting baby clothes for friends whilst surrounded by Heavy Metal Roadies:rotfl: .Mind you I was pretty paranoid about washig them well as they tended to smell rather "ahem" herbal!!!!!!!!!

Crickett, I do x-stitch on my lunch breaks and my colleagues are genuinely interested in what I do and they have been only complimentary.
And please do come HERE to share all your x stitch stuff. TMIF and I are already there to welcome you and anybody else."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Well, its good to know I am in excellent company then! Thanks for the new thread Marru... I have subscribed and look forward to reading through it!!
I decided to continue with making people think I was insane... I have just given my desk a thorough sprucing up. Yes, I do have antibacterial wipes in my desk drawer... and I am not afraid to use them. This time though, I started something! We all have shiny clean desks now!
Right... nearly time to go home for the weekend. Hoorah! Made it to the end of the week... and despite the tempation... I was not compelled to commit homocide!!Go me!!
Have a lovely weekend!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Evening all.
Crickett, take no notice. Cheery sums it up perfectly. The problem is that people dont like to be seen to be "different" so to make sure they ae not suspected as being interested in anything remotely intelligent they make snide remarks. Sad really.
Feeling a bit frustrated and down tonight. A deadline that I was expecting to happen today has been and gone and nothing happened (3rd time in a row).
Oh well, other things to be cracking on with. I have set myself a challenge on my home page to write 52 letters in 52 weeks. I need to work out how to add a button onto the page for sharing and then I thought I would see if I could get others involved. The idea is simples, you send a handwritten message out once a week. I found it on another blog but it is something I have been meaning to do for some time now. I love getting letters in the post (real handwritten ones not official ones) so I thought that if I actually sent some I might get some back (always an ulterior motive with me) It doesnt have to be a full blown letter, it can be a greetings card, a postcard, a little package of a small gift. Anything really. So if you have any ideas I would appreciate them. If anybody fancies joining me give me a shout. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Happy Friday Everyone - http://www.danceintherainmovie.com/
Found this and wanted to share it, just read the poem thats with Dancing in the Rain clip, love it, love it, love it.
Ive decided that from now on everyday is going to be the 1st day of the rest of my life and that the best (and there have been a lot of 'bests' already) is yet to come.
I called the place I used to work for and boy do they want me back.
I can forego the interview, just go to the induction et voila.
Apparently its, quote 'fate' that I'm being made redundant, because the Universe is leading me back there.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Which really means that the clever personel manager (who's lovely) reads my facebook page and see's all the stuff I post about the Universe and my quotes about motivitation blah blah knows how to manipulate (or thinks she does lol) me into thinking that working for them is my destiny. I don't know if it is or if it isn't.:rotfl:
Erm, you'd have to work one day at the weekend quote, you may have to work evenings quote, I couldnt give you back your old morning weekday shift. quote.
Well have I got news for you...........if you want me back that desperately then you'll compromise, I don't mind working the odd Saturday or Sunday. Or even the odd evening shift.
I'm worth my weight in platinum, gold, diamonds and whatever doing that job (its thankless) and I know it.
So if they give a little I'd go back, because I have to be earning.
If not then........et voila.......No Fantasia.
Cest la vie et Cest la morte.
So do I push it or...................?????????????????
Dilemma's, dilemma's. Sometimes the rock is softer than the hard place, and right now I'm being a hard place.
Fighting talk and about bl**dy time too lol.
I dont know what to do x0 -
My friend once said to me "follow your passion - not your pension". Sorry Fantasia I really cant tell you what to do but I suspect that you really know what you want to do but is it that you are looking for validation to do it? All I will say is trust your instincts. Don't make yourself miserable. Having just heard that Eddie Stobart has died aged 56 and an Assembly Member in National Assembly for Wales, Brynle Williams just died this morning aged 62 all I can say is life is too short to be miserable. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Cheri, I love the idea of writing letters or just sending something small, simple but significant through the post. Not sure about doing it weekly though, my sisters would laugh and ask Why not pipck up the phone (easy seen the oldest is 10 years younger than me and the youngest 18 years younger lol). Its all email, email, email.
But I can actually remember when letter writing was the norm and it was nice to receive something from somebody. Maybe we should do a Matrix letter thingy.......?
Love the idea and I'm sure I can muster up the time to at least try.0 -

I dont want to go back there, but would go (on my terms) to stay earning for the time being, my instincts tell me not to push it, but I should have enough confidence to try. So I'm going to push it, and if it doesnt work, then its the company's loss.0 -
Cheri - confession time here. In 1992 I was bored one afternoon off (worked for BT at the time) so got out atlas, closed eyes & opened it and pointed to somewhere biggish near my fingertip. I did this 5 times & then wrote to the telephone exchange in biggish place with a wee bit about myself & would anyone like to correspond. Only 2 wrote back & one faded out quite quickly but I'm still in touch with Yvonne in Idaho & her sister in LA. I also did this with Walnut Grove one day (fan of Little House on the Prairie) - I got a reply and that correspondence ran for several years.
Sounds sad, I know but - that's me for youDebts 07/12/2021
