Phew, that was a major catch up!

Thank you all for your kind words of welcome.

Bitsy I hope you've had a lovely birthday today.

MG, sorry to hear that you have a cold on top of everything else. Sending you a huuuuuge bunch of virtual flowers to put in your bedroom so you can't see the clutter ;)

Fantasia, I was so happy to read about your adoption of Leyla as it was happening and it was a big life changing decision that you made. Now your work life is the next biggie. You have mentioned there would be a lack of opportunities within Animal Welfare should you train in that area, however I have been thinking that animal owners are facing an increase in costs - food, vets bills, insurance, not to mention the worry of redundancy and I wondered if there could be an online business opportunity for you to help people overcome these problems? Just a thought...

TDQ, I wonder if your local area has a regular exercise group held in a community hall that you could attend? Or could you find a buddy to exercise with? I am hopeless at exercise on my own but I love going out to a regular group as it makes me go even when I don't really feel like it.

robsmum, lots of get well vibes for you!

My challenge this time is more about creating a routine and good habits. So my list is

    1. Post on this thread every day.
    2. Have a short To Do list every day of 5 items or less and do not do anything else until these items are done.
    3. Catch up with one friend per day. This can be either by writing a letter/card, an email, a phone call or a visit.

I have prioritised what needs to be done for my To Do lists this week and also written a general list so that once the daily 5 items have been done I can choose something off the general list. I hope this will work better for me than the random lists I have been using which are formed from a haphazard brain dump!

Thanks Oceanspirit, I will look into that. Currently looking for something during the day so many of my friends will be at work but thinking about it I did used to go line dancing and it was huge fun, and very sociable so I think that might be the way to go. Someone was talking about Zumba recently, perhaps I can look into that.

Welcome back MG! Glad to hear you're well and truly on the mend, but I echo what others have said about taking it steadily and not trying to do too much, too soon.

Claire hurrah to them tidying their rooms - a very good start indeed!

Crickett Exciting stuff regarding getting the house on the market - yes, it can be stressful, but find yourself a good solicitor and don;t take too much notice of what the estate agents tell you. If it sounds implausible, it probably is!

Cheri chin-up girl! If you expect the week to plummet downhill, it probably will! :D

Bitsy Glad you've decided to stay and happy belated birthday (or rather, belated happy birthday! :o) - sorry it was missed by me at the time!

Today has got off to a bit of a flying start as MrEH went off to work slightly earlier than normal - I was actually awake slightly ahead of his alarm going off, and when I realised at 6.50am that I wasn't going to go back to sleep I got up and got on with stuff! So, my Avon orders are input and checked, ebay is checked and some small items relisted, and my income/expenditure sheet updated. Now time to head off for a shower and wash my hair I think. Today may be a Ta Da! day!

    Morning ladies

Kids fed, kitchen squared, homeschool materials out for DS1.

Think my one big thing for the day will have to be to colour my hair - fed up catching sight of myself in the mirror IYSWIM.

Also - 500 days to the Olympics - wonder what we will all be up to then??

    Good morning

I have the hospital at 1.50 today, check up on my back :)

So a quick wizz around with the hoover in a minute, put washing on rads, (checked weather forecast, rain so can't put on the line) put last load in the machine.

I have to post an ebay parcel today too, and sort a few more beads for my mate.

Good hair is essential for welbeing. As to the 500 day question I'll be rich, famous, skinny, well adjusted, happy and the rest. With the rest of you.

Welcome back MG and glad to hear you are on the mend.

Offical day off today so quick blitz on the house but a gentle blitz today. Do feel much better today, just wiped out.
Think after I've done the house I'll make lavender bags, part of my new crafting activities - am tentaviley thinking of selling bits and peices, not sure yet.

    Must make a start.

  • Morning to all - a wet, grey day here at Thrifty Towers. Not sure what today is going to bring, am absolutely wiped so could do with an infusion of energy to get me going. I think we'll start with making a chilli for tea and some potato salad to use up some left-over new pots. Then I think it could be time to tackle the budget with renewed determination and gusto. Time to up my game in the war against petrol, fuel and food prices - bring it on.

Sounds good, but can I pass on skinny and famous please - don't want to be either of those - I'll go for healthy and successful instead please! :D (You may notice I didn't pass on rich!)

Just looking up Chicken Tikka recipes as I have a fancy for making some from scratch, and as I bought chicken thighs/drumsticks for use one day this week (Tesco's own corn-fed free range is good value at the moment) I think I might play in a while. Found a recipe which looks promising on the BBC Good Food site - can anyone recommend a good substitute for Fenugreek seeds though as I don't have those.
