Lovely to see a bit more ooomph around here today.

    Oceanspirit - welcome.

Fantasia - I wish you all the best over the next few weeks. Lots of positive vibes flying your way - remember we are all here any time you need. A large batch of twinks was made in Thrifty Towers today so plenty of tea and virtual twinks to go around - I get the real-life version - tee hee. I think Souk needs several - the sugar and fat will help with the hangover :D.

Bitsy - hope you keep posting here and Clooties Mum too. I keep thinking about a diary and then think well I spend a lot of time on here, on t'other side and reading other diaries and blogs that I really need to spend less time online not more.

Claire - I think a Mum strike may be the order of the day and then establish the ground rules. I wash and iron for my two but I don't pick up after them. Dirty washing has to go in the laundry bin or it doesn't get washed - end of story. Dd (15) has to clean and tidy her own bedroom. Ds (19 with Aspergers) needs lots of daily verbal reminders to put his clothes in for washing or to bring dirty cups and glasses downstairs but he does it. I clean and hoover his bedroom but first he has to empty his bin and tidy-up - he is slowly getting there :T. Neither of them leave their belongings around the house as there is the distinct possibility that they might find their way into the bin - Thrifty walks off whistling ...

FW I think thats where I've gone wrong with weightloss. If I don't serious disconnect my emotions from food the ultimately any progress I make end up being undone in the end. I wasn't suggesting the timed challenges are never successful for some I am sure they are but for me I tend to work slower and lack of progress by the goals end demotivates me :o
Good suggestion re breaking down to daily actions thanks for that idea.

Just that I think that Firewalker is one of the threads backbones since MG has been unwell, and I value her opinions etc and that am sure we all appreciate her input. Words to that effect. Its hard to do the Bulgarian writing stuff :o

Promised myself a 100 word though so am trying x

Not bad, but where does this come from? Are you studying Bulgarian? I can understand most of it but some of it sounds a bit like Colin Firth in Love Actually - but good.

  • Hi folks

I still read fairly reguarly but do find it hard to keep up, I also haven't got any big plans, well some but they aren't big! I love reading the thread, you all underestimate how much you inspire random readers like me!

I hope Memory Girl is ok and you all keep posting

    Love Buffyxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Bitsy I too hope you stay here rather than heading off for your own diary. I think that we will need to make this thread evolve over time in any case if we are going to keep it going - one thing we do all have to consider is what we will do when it hits 5000 posts and needs a new thread starting. Do we agree in advance what we are going to call it, and nominate someone to start it up? This is assuming that MG is likely to remain less active on here since her focus & priorities have moved on. It may even be that we won't be allowed to keep going with it now it no longer really has a debt/money based focus, although hopefully those who make the decisions will see just how valuable this has become.

The question of the 100/50 day challenges is an interesting one. I ventured onto the pre-christmas one, did reasonably well but failed dismally at one part of mine. Unfortunately in my head that was the bit of the challenge I had fixed on as "vital" so failing with that one thing left me feeling as though I had failed completely. I've already shifted my focus away from doing fixed length challenges as a result of this. Now I am periodically posting onto my diary with sets of challenges to be done over the next period of time - probably roughly quarterly but some may be longer, some shorter. they are also broader spanning (inspiration from Cheery Daffs for the method!) across health, money, work etc. Fingers crossed this will work for me.

The housework thing is an interesting question. On days when I am not working all day I do, and expect to do, whatever needs doing around here - it's only fair when OH is out of the house for 12 hours in the day and I am not. On days when we are both out of the house all day though any chores which have to be done are shared. I cook dinner, MrEH sorts out lunches for himself - both of us on days I'm working in London. I flea-treat the cat - he does jobs that need doing on the computer. He hoovers for me as I struggle with the hoover, but I tend to be the one who looks after the finances. If we were both out all the time, then things would have to revert to being more equally shared out.
